I have downloaded this update and now my wifi will not connect?
iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3
I have this problem too. I've already tried to replace Network definitions and had no luck. This is a serious issue because i have to pay for 3G/4G data usage! I've payed a loto for this iphone and i need this to be fixed asap!
I am having trouble posting this because my Wifi keeps dropping on my iPhone 6 plus.
HI
i I did the network reset thing an my wifi is working again at least for the last 24 hours. I'll let you know if I have any further issues.
im on iPhone 5s.
I, too, was able to connect to my home Wifi only after cycling my router (8.3 on iPhone 6). Don't know what will happen in a different location ....
...All suggestions from Apple I've tried failed to work.
I stumbled on this solution. For what it's worth I'm up on wifi now after several days without it.
1. Reset network settings
2. Settings/wifi/choose network
3. Manually input your ssid, security type and password.
iOS 8.3 Att iPhone 5
same wifi I issues. This is ridiculous because I have only so much data I can use. If I cannot connect to wifi is apple going to pay for my data overages?? My settings show that in connected but the status bar in the main screen shows I'm on LTE. Minor getting my mail either. Needs to be fixed ASAP!! I'm waiting to update my iPad to a newer iOS because of all the issues. Wish I would not have updated my phone because it's becoming useless!
Hey this really helped me!!!
Hello,
I would like to make a complaint.
My Iphone unable to detect any wifi signal after I've updated the new version of 8.3
I've noticed whenever I am away for few feet from the router , the signal lost and disconnected.
However , its only works when my phone near and placed beside the router.
This happened frequently , when tried to connect to my wifi router and it seem the signal has gone.
Surprisingly , the other smartphone brands are not having this problem. I have checked with the wifi provider and there is no issue at their end.
Moreover, my battery are tremendously become drained and need to be recharge for several times, which is quite troublesome since I've updated this new version.
Need to expedite this matter URGENTLY.
Thank you.
Did you read the thread you posted to? There are several solutions to try right in it.
None of which will actually solve the problems. They may provide temporary relief from SOME of the causes but this is a bug (one which many of us have submitted to Apple Bug Reporter (my case was one of the first submitted to it, if not THE first, since mine is still open and not marked as a duplicate). The developers have been working with me to gather additional diagnostics from the devices and have requested packet captures to aid in troubleshooting. So far, the problems seems to be more prevalent when using WPA2 Enterprise authentication but it does happen with other forms of authentication too, and even with SSIDs which are not using any form of authentication at all. Just so you know what all has been attempted by me on both my iPhone and on my iPad, I've:
Forgotten all SSIDs
Rebooted normally
Forcefully rebooted
Reset network settings
Downgraded my device to 8.2
The reason that none of these will actually resolve the problems fully (if at all) is that during the upgrade processes new firmware is written to the devices which does not get rolled back to previous versions even when restoring the operating system to a previous version (according to the developers I've been working with). There are ways to reverse the firmware upgrades but it is not through normal processes of rolling back the operating system.
Did you reboot your router? Check to see if MAC address filtering is on? Change your broadcast channel? There are literally hundreds of threads on this forum with many, many other solutions to try than the ones you have listed. Don't give up and call it a bug just yet.
Hi All,
Add me to the list of WiFi connection problems with my iPad II. It is not good that the only problem I have ever had with my iPad is caused by Apple. Come to think about it, OSX upgrades have never caused a problem, period.
Keith
how do you file a bug? or complaint? I have the same issue and can't seem to find a way to let them know, they just want me to send them my phone for replacement. thanks.
The list I provided was shortened for the sake of brevity but I'm not "giving up and calling it a bug" - this IS a bug (commonly referred to as WiFried) and is part of what was attempted to be resolved by upgrading to 8.3, which also implemented some changes to wireless authentication and certificate acceptance.
Please don't take offense to the following - I'm not trying to belittle you or negate the need for basic troubleshooting steps - but all three of the suggestions in your response sound like something you'd hear from someone reading from a script for basic troubleshooting when dealing with a novice. As someone whose profession is to engineer network solutions for corporations and enterprises I can promise you that I'm not a novice and can further say that nothing you suggested would explain why these issues were made more abundant and obvious by upgrading to iOS 8.3 - those could be reasons for connectivity issues in general but would have nothing to do with increased connectivity issues only after upgrading to iOS 8.3.
As you said, there are many other "solutions" to try (though I would call them suggestions as they don't truly "solve" the problem) but, as I said, they will do nothing more than possibly provide temporary relief from the symptoms of this bug.
FYI, WiFried has been in existence since iOS 8.0 was released but was only officially acknowledged by Apple between iOS 8.2 and the iOS 8.3 release, which is why none of the previous iOS 8.x updates have even attempted to address it. iOS 8.3 might resolve some of the causes of WiFried but it also made the bug more prevalent for some of us (like myself) that had almost zero symptoms prior to the iOS 8.3 upgrade.
Try the network reset fix. It worked out for me a d haven't had a problem for a while now.
Go to https://bugreport.apple.com.You will need an Apple Developer ID to log in to the site but, it's free to sign up. Once you log in you can submit a bug report. If it is deemed as a duplicate they will mark it as such and close whichever of the duplicates is the least relevant or least worked-on so they don't duplicate repair efforts (obviously).
