I Stored and read books using the Kindle app on my iPad mini. I was recently bought a Kindle device. The books from my iPad mini and the Kindle have merged so that I now have copies of books on each device.
too free up memory on my iPad mini I want to delete the Kindle app plus it's books. Will this affect the books stored on my Kindle device. I would not wish to loose my books altogether.

Deleting books that you have downloaded into the Kindle app on your iPad, and/or deleting the app itself, shouldn't affect your Kindle device - your kindle book purchases are linked to your Amazon account so will remain tied to that account and available on your Kindle device.
Just a question - why not keep the Kindle app on your device, and move all of your books to the Amazon Cloud? I have Kindle apps on all of my iDevices as well as a Kindle Paperwhite which is what I read with most of the time.
But I only keep a back-up book or two on my devices. That way, if I get stuck unexpectedly somewhere, I always have my iPhone or iPad there with a book to read....
