iTunes 12.1.2 will not open

After upgrading to iTunes 12.1.2, iTunes will not launch. Here is what I have found in the console.

I updated to Yosemite 10.10.3 a few days ago and have iTunes 12.1.2.27. I only realized today that iTunes will not open, not no way, not no how. I tried clicking and double clicking the icon at the bottom of the screen and in the application folder but no luck. All my other apps open. As someone who does not use terminal commands, I don't see why I should trust anonymous comments on a board telling me to run some code when I have no true knowledge of what the **** it will do. #Apple needs to fix this. I also don't want to reinstall iTunes and risk losing music like happened last fall with the update to Yosemite. #iTunes #ituneswontopen #yosemite @apple @apple.com

No luck on Mavericks 10.9.5, after deleting iTunes from terminal with the shell command and then re-installing it I get a reliability error about these servers :

init.itunes.apple.com

xp.apple.com

p12-buy.itunes.apple.com

itunes.apple.com

upp.itunes.apple.com

bookkeeper.itunes.apple.com

pd-st.itunes.apple.com

also teh Mac App Store is faulty, take a look at this screenshot :

I am experiencing this issues after the latest security updates. All firewalls were disabled before running these tests....

Worked for me as well. Easier than working through the graphical permission settings then pulling and dropping the iTunes.app into the trash and then emptying the trash. Command line always faster and easier - of course you have to be very precise in what you type into the Terminal window. Easy for an ex Linux sysadmin, but do remember that the command line (AKA Terminal window) is case sensitive, so if you type Applications (capital A) that is totally different from applications (lower case a).

Again, thanks for the tip. The bug seems to reside in some of the permissions set somewhere during the upgrade rather than an actual bug in the software, once the application is installed from scratch.
