Photo app doesn't seem to sync the Faces
OS X Apple Photo app doesn't seem to sync the faces to the cloud, other mac or Iphone? Is this a bug an error or is this feature not implemented?

If the Faces metadata is only stored locally, why are you able to search for the names tagged to pictures in the iOS Photos app? That info MUST also be in the cloud and therefore the Yosemite Photos app is simply not able to sync it.
The Faces feature didn't appear until a very late build in beta, so maybe it's a feature we'll see in a future update? I'd also like to edit them on my iOS devices...
Most of my photos with faces assigned have the Faces name also added as a keyword, and the keywords sync to iCloud photo library.

After the WWDC 2015 we'll probably know more 😁
I sure hope they get faces synched at some point. It is one of the hardest things to get right and done completely. Having to do it on multiple machines or have to re-do it because you had to resynch for whatever reason is a real pain. I was really hoping that once Apple started synching photos to iCloud this would be hight on the features list.
This is a useful and important thread you started. I've learned a lot.
Looks like the iCloud Photo Library is a NOT a complete backup of your organized Photo library although it may have all of your photos. So the smart thing to do is to consider your Mac as the PRIMARY storage location for your photos and back it up multiple times. Losing your organization can be almost (but not quite) as painful as losing your photos.

iCloud Photo Library is not meant to be a backup. It is the working storage of your library that needs backing up. and it is no archival backup. You cannot restore previous versions from iCloud, if you accidentally delete a photo or bad disk blocks corrupt a jpeg. It may take a long time before you notice a jpeg corruption, and then we need to be able to restore the originals from an older backup.
Apple says so in the Photos help: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6d60d10f
Even if you use iCloud Photo Library, it’s important that you always back up your library locally using one of the following methods: ....
I agree!!
I Like to mange my photo liberty on imac and macbook air so the sync of faces wil hel me a lot. It's not a backup.
If you have also have this problem please inform apple by sending feedback:
I guess the obvious question is...why don't they sync across devices? Why would I want a different set of face identifications on each computer? Silly Apple, though most likely it is just an incomplete application.

I hope that feature will be added in the near future.
It looks like Photos for Mac is not yet fully developed and the developers gave the first priority to the features that are needed to sync with the mobile devices in iCloud. Since it is not possible to name faces on an iPhone or iPad, the faces are still missing from the iCloud sync. Unused keywords don't sync either. We are lucky that smart albums do sync. Projects are missing, they are not available on iPhones either.
