+1. It is ridiculous that Apple has removed the ability to drag and drop photos directly from Photos. The media browser is so slow and horrible, it is hardly a "workaround." The only real workaround is to drag the photos to your desktop first, then drag and drop them into the application you want to use them in. But even this workaround is terrible when you want to directly edit a photo in Photoshop as we could do with iPhoto.
And yes, Terence Devlin, I've already submitted my complaint directly to Apple, no need for one of your snarky replies.
At the risk of sounding snarky I have to say you don't seen to understand that with the new architecture of Yosemite and Photos it's the 3rd party developers responsibility to provide the extension for their product in order to integrate with Yosemite and Photos. Also they have had access to the beta versions as long as we have in order to create those extensions.
So if you don't like the new Photos continue using iPhoto. Photo was not deleted from your hard drive, only removed from the Dock. If you have iPhoto 9.6.1 you can still use your iPhoto library. If you don't have that version but some earlier version of 9.x try following these instructions in this post to obtain iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash.
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
