Photos: Can't Drag & Drop to Browser

The article you point to is inadequate to answer the question. It does not address the question at all.

In fact, it may be outdated at this point, because in the current version of iOS El Capitan, clicking on Photos in the Finder simply opens the Photos app.

The article offers an alternative way of working. It's still pretty current, but when you respond six months after an answer is written I'm not sure why you expect it to be up-to-date... That said, when you say this

When will Apple fix this major Photos bug? Its so annoying that i still have to use that slow mo oldschool iphote.

No idea - being able to drag from Photos to Safari seems a pretty basic Apple feature. I've logged a bug which got closed as duplicate, so others have logged one too, but it means I can't see if anything's happening. My wife (who's the one affected) wants me to ditch Macs as it's severely impacted her workflow.

I love Adobe Photoshop, but I can't figure out how to get my pictures from Photos into Photoshop. You explained it. Glad to know it isn't just me. I am shocked that Apple would introduce a product that doesn't seem complete and it is absolutely no use to me.

Honestly, at this point one of two things will happen:

1. Adobe will write extensions for Photoshop that allow it to be used with Photos - that means you'll have to use a version of Photoshop sold on the App Store.

or

2. They won't.

If it's 2 then you're best pff using some app other than Photos. It's a free giveaway app. It does what it does, but don't expect it to be all things to all people.

I don't use all the other apps, I just want to be in photos and when I come across one I want to share, to be able to drag it over to my Facebook post. The window changes like it is expecting the image, but it doesn't show up. I like the "Share to Facebook" link, but if you are in specific groups or pages that you want to share a photo with, it doesn't work since it just posts to your personal albums on your main page. And before anyone asks, I have sent feedback about this since it is the main flaw that I see for my basic uses.

i think its a basic and must have feature, to drag and drop photos in any app you want. just simply and easy for everyone, like in finder.

Nope, still no ability to drag and drop from Photos to Safari (specifically Wordpress) under 10.11/10.11.1.

Apple - this is basic, basic functionality and it used to work. MacOS has always been known to be intuitive to use and yet this is not.

I've breezed through this thread to simply get confirmation of an Apple mis-step as far as basic usability, and far more than the change itself, I'm struck by your amazingly condescending attitude. Must be lonely up there on your lofty pedestal.

WWhat Adobe and at her manufacturers need to support is drag and drop from Photos you can drag and drop from Photos to applications that have been updated to be fully compatible with the new macosx El Capitan. I can drop photos into an open mail window or a pages document, no problem.

The issue is clearly an Apple issue with Apple applications that used to work with iPhotos and Apple broke when they moved to the fairly crappy Photos application that clearly they're not putting much work into even though it replaced iPhotos AND Aperture.

Photos does not replace Aperture. Apple is offering nothing at all to replace Aperture. The developement simply stopped without a new professional photo application by Apple. Photos allows us to browse the Aperture libraries, so we can access our photos to migrate to another professional application like Lightroom, but that's it.

My answer was in response to Network 2's post that commented on Adobe products - dragging from Photos to applications works, if the application has been updated to allow it.

I think I know what your issue is... When dragging and dropping there is now a second or two delay. Watch for the "window" to get a blue outline.

Just "hold" the item there for a couple seconds.
