Photos: how to play slideshow withOUT music?

Thank for suggestion of how to turn off the Theme song when playing a quick slideshow. However the theme song tick won't unselect. I can only click to another theme choice which changes the music. I want no music. But I want to leave the speakers on to hear my little video commentaries. I play quick slideshows which are a mix of photos and short videos. Why can't I unclick the the Theme music and get blissful slideshow silence. thanks

In the slideshow click on the Music button at the right.

Move the cursor up to the small window at the top and the X button will appear when you're over it. Click on the X and the selected music track will be removed.

I like to run my all my photos through my television monitor using a mac mini and slideshow....I then turn my music on through iTunes.....how do I turn off the music in the new photos app when using slideshow.

Delete the music from the slideshow as shown in my screenshots above.

I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear.....I just click on all photos in the album column and press the slideshow button.....I used to be able to turn off the music and shuffle the photos.....I don't want to make a separate slideshow for all of my 9000 photos....does that make sense?

I don't know of any way to turn off the music when playing a slideshow in that manner. The only way is to crate a slideshow and remove the track that has been assigned:

I created a slideshow of my 4700 photos and it only took about 30 seconds to do.

But it is not well designed, that we have to use the smart work-around, that Old Toad found, to save a slideshow without music.

It is again a reason for a feedback to Apple about a usability issue: Apple - Photos - Feedback

Right-click on the album you need to play,

Select "Play Slideshow"

Select "Music" button at the top

Instead of "iTunes" select "Theme Songs"

And uncheck the song that's playing

I have no idea why Apple has to make it default to iTunes, when what's actually playing is a "theme Song", which can be easily unselected.

Despite the wonderful feedback and support from you and other 8+ level responders Apple doesn't seem to be listening at all to the feedback.

Thank you to Igor Barinov for the answer to this specific question. The solution is just so un-Apple. What happened to Music ON or OFF rather than figuring out to click the song that has a tick to remove the tick. The days of Apple ease of use are fading.

Over all these years have any of you built any relationships with Apple engineers where you can state the blooming obvious to them? Its frustrating that with such wonderful contributors here and the endless feedback given through Apple Feedback there is no action on the part of Apple.

Yes, it's a shame that Apple is going down the drain lately.

Terrible user interfaces, strange default settings, useless error messages and just lots of "un-Apple", uncool stuff.

I'm already on Ubuntu Linux, they keep getting better. I'm still using OS X on my mac mini though, hoping for the OS X quality to change for the better.
