No video support with iPad lightning-VGA adapter (iOS 8.3)

vga connected projector fails with netflix after upgrade ios 8.3 on ipad air - other streaming apps (abc, cw) still work. netflix goes to dark screen - closed captions still show up, but no video content. netflix says 'talk to apple', apple says 'this is a netflix app problem - wait until they release a new app which always happens after ios upgrade'.

from researching online, this is not the first time this problem has occurred, yet both parties claim ignorance.

have tried reloading app, cycling devices etc to no avail

vga does not support hdcp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-bandwidth_Digital_Content_Protection

which is used as drm for most media they want to protect from being copied one would think that would include netflix

if both claim ignorance they likes are just that, most such support people lack much insight into the more technical aspects of things

but the real question is if it worked at one point why and same with material bought from itunes which would also be using hdcp

I have the same problem! I updated my iPad 4th generation to iOS 8.3 and now Netflix shows me a message saying my TV isn't suported. But it was under iOS 8.2. Luckily I hadn't updated my wife iPad. We tested and it works well under iOS 8.2.

Same situation...Ipad w/o the upgrade (using 8.2) supports lightning adaptor to TV. Upgraded iPad w/8.3 no longer supporting the TV.

Same situation here, older iOS and Lightnigh to VGA works, now with iOS 8.3 it does not work. Congratulations to the join team of Netflix and apple who have now managed to sell me the need for a new non-VGA adapter for their ducking need to stick HDCP in my living room.

I had the same problem with an iPad Air 1 once I upgraded to ios 8.3. Following several suggestions online, I did the following:

1. Via iTunes Store app, I logged out.

2. Settings, General, Reset (all the way at the bottom), Reset all Settings (this doesn't remove any data/apps/etc, it just resets all the iPad settings.

3. Did a Hard Reboot (hold down power and main button until iPad shuts off).

Once I turned it back on, now I could use the iPad via lightning adapter to watch video on a TV.

Tried the above (sign off, reset, hard start) - still same problem with VGA adapter on iPad Air at iOS 8.3 - no video out from Netflix after upgrade.

as stated above, apparently this has happened in prior releases, but obviously was fixed since it worked fine at iOS 8.2 - too bad no one remembers what fixed it....

Went through it all again - sign off, reset, hard restart - still no video out on netflix using lightning VGA adapter - sometimes get 'device not supported', sometimes just dark screen after upgraded pad air to iOS 8.3

This is not solved at all! This fix doesn't work for most users And it didn't work for me.

I bought my Lighting to VGA cable 2 weeks ago. Was able to watch HBO Go/Netflix episodes from my iPad Mini to my computer screen for a few days. Tried again 1 week later and the screen turned black. but the sound would play. Tried the reset from above and still does not work. Is Apple looking into this?

I have an iPad Air with Lighting to VGA cable and just upgraded to IOS 8.3 three days ago. Ever since I did that, HBO Go plays audio but the video comes up black. I tried Countryclub6340's trick but it did not work. I can't believe Apple hasn't fixed this yet, it seems like they don't know or don't care. It's been a month already according to the date from the OP. I use HBO on a daily basis and it has been very frustrating.

The moral of the story - never do software updates. Don't fix something that's not broken.

This didn't work for me at first. Then, I did a second hard reboot with the lightning adapter to HDMI adapter connected iPad and to the T.V.

I realize this post is related to the lightning-VGA adapter, but I was having the same issue with the lightning-HDMI adapter.
