Call Forwarding IOS 8.3 AT&T iPhone 6

I did the recent update to IOS 8.3 on my iPhone 6 as did my wife, and we are having trouble with the standard call forwarding function. Because our house have virtually no AT&T coverage, we use this feature daily. It has alway worked in the past without issue.

After the 8.3 update, the stored number is gone and when I slide the call forward option button, it brings me to the forward to page, the issue is that when I put a 10 digit number in (which it allows), there is not next step. There is not ability to accept or activate, just a 10 digit number hanging out in a box. Going back just clears the number and resets the call forward button to OFF. It is an endless loop.

Any one else having this problem?

Lawrence, This is not an AT&T problem. This is an Apple iOS 8.3 problem. I have not found anyone who has done the 8.3 upgrade who can get call forwarding to work on an iPhone 6 Plus. I've been using the call forwarding feature for years as well. It stops working on the 8.3 update. I'm curious if anyone has a iPhone 5S to see if that exhibits the same problem.

No, I have the problem and know others who do as well. I'm actually very surprised that people are now saying it's working. I have a 6 Plus. Does anyone else have a 6 Plus where it's working?? Apple gave me a brand new phone (2nd) and it has the problem. They couldn't resolve the problem at the Apple Store and AT&T Advanced Technical support passed the problem to Apple. I think it's clearly a bug in iOS 8.3.

Lawrence, no one said I was unwilling to check with AT&T. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I want to the AT&T store and walked through all the possible issues including an unlikely change in my pan options. They pushed me over to Apple. Also, not sure why you say I'm the only one who has this issue, there are several people on the discussion who are experiencing the same thing. Also, my family has several iPhone 6's and they are developed the call forward issue after the update. Perhaps it's the model, we were early adopters. I wish some of these suggestions had worked, I just want to use the feature..

All,

I have the exact same problem and it will NOT go away. I just found this post after hours of frustration. The problem is still occurring and is a big issue for me.

Background: I have an iPhone 6 (not Plus). Call forwarding worked just fine for a long time. I upgraded to 8.3 and it stopped working. I cannot call forward manually (with the codes) OR using the toggle switch. I have the exact same problem with "Settings" option where I hit the toggle, enter the number, only have the option to "go back" and then the green toggle switch switches back to OFF.

Someone help!!!!!!

Lawrence,

Thanks.....Yes, I was prompted two days ago for a carrier update (to which I said "OK") and hoped that would fix the issue. It did not. I'm at a loss for where to go or what to try next other than the AT&T store. However, given the notes above of one of the users having spent tons of time at each store (AT&T and Apple), I'm not fired up to attempt to re-create the wheel.

Has ANYONE gotten any answer from Apple? This is clearly an Apple issue from my viewpoint.

Thanks.

So I sucked it up and went to the Apple Store Genius bar to see if i could get this problem fixed. I spent about 2 hours with the tech and at the end of the day they submitted a trouble ticket to development.

One thing we did try was to reset the phone to factory settings. We tired the call forwarding at that point the the same thing happened, accepted the 10 digit number but cleared it out and slid the button to OFF. The thinking was that perhaps there was some corrupted data in my files. That did not seem to be the case. In any event, the phone was restored from a back up and still displayed the problem.

According to the tech, there was no recored of this problem which I'm surprised about given that other people here have been to the Apple store and demonstrated the issue in the past. Oh well, I guess we will just have to wait for a fix on the next update.

All,

STILL A PROBLEM. NOT FIXED!!!

APPLE, PLEASE HELP!!!

I wanted to give an update on this problem as I am still experiencing it and have done more validation that it is an Apple iOS 8.3 problem and it seems to be related to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus ONLY.

To recap what the exact problem is, since this thread seems to have strayed a bit and some people think it's not a problem:

A: Settings -> Phone -> Call Forwarding

User uploaded file

B. Call Forwarding - Turn on

User uploaded file

C. Enter Number and return to previous screen by touching the blue "Call Forwarding" to return to previous screen.

User uploaded file

D. Call forwarding button is "green" for a split second, then returns to previous OFF state and no forwarding number is displayed. DOES NOT WORK.

User uploaded file

Further validation this is isolated to iOS 8.3 on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus ONLY...

Here are the latest steps I did with my AT&T sim card and my wife AT&T sim card (she has an iPhone 5s):

1. Removed my sim and put it in the 5s. The phone said that a "carrier update" was required and I selected "NO" to that prompt. Call forwarding functionality worked as expected on the 5s running iOS 8.3

2. I removed the sim from the 5s and re-inserted it. This time I selected "YES" to do the carrier update to eliminate that as a variable, and the call forwarding functionality still worked as expected.

3. I then placed my wifes sim in my 6 Plus. Call forwarding functionality does NOT work on the 6 Plus (was not prompted for carrier update). Also, keep in mind this is my second phone (Apple provided me with a new iPhone 6 Plus when they couldn't resolve the problem at the Genius Bar after hours of troubleshooting).

Note: I did one additional test which as interesting: I put my sim in the 5s and turned call forwarding "on". Then, I put the sim back into my 6 Plus. The calls were still being forwarded to the number I put in while it was in the 5s, but the call forwarding interface in the 6 Plus showed that it was NOT forwarding calls. I could not turn OFF the call forwarding from the 6 Plus and had to put the sim back into the 5s in order to turn off the call forwarding.

If anyone has an update on this, or any other suggestions please advise! This is a critical issue for me as when I travel and when I am in poor areas of reception I need to forward calls. This is a featured I was using multiple times a day, EVERY DAY.

APPLE????????? HELP!!!!!!

This is not the place to contact Apple; they do not follow threads in the forum, and do not respond in the forum.

Have you tried enabling call forwarding using the dialed forwarding code? From the AT&T Web Site:

Call Forwarding lets you forward your incoming calls to another phone number. All AT&T wireless and GoPhone voice plans include Call Forwarding.

Turn Call Forwarding off and on

You can turn Call Forwarding off and on from your wireless device by following the steps below. If these instructions don't work for you, visit the Device How-To Center to view Call Forwarding instructions for your phone.

To turn on Call Forwarding:

  1. On your wireless device, enter **21*, then the 10-digit number to which you wish to forward your calls, followed by #. For example: **21*1235556789# forwards your calls to the phone number 123.555.6789.
  2. Push the Call, Send, Talk, or Receiver icon. Your wireless device displays a confirmation message when Call Forwarding activates.

To turn off Call Forwarding:

  1. Dial #21# on your wireless device.
  2. Press the Call, Send, Talk, or Receiver key. Your wireless device displays a confirmation message when Call Forwarding deactivates.

To change the number receiving your forwarded calls, first turn Call Forwarding off. Then, turn Call Forwarding on again using the new number.
