How do I get AirPlay on my desktop?
Although I have AirPlay on my MacBook Pro, I do not have it on the desktop (System Preferences/Display). I have the latest OS X and iTune.

I think my question was misunderstood. I know iTune, Apple TV, and AirPlay interact when loaded. What I don't know is why I have it on one computer but not another when both computers are using identical OS X (10.10.3).
Any suggestions?

Airplay does not show up under System prefs > Display.
Also, it will not show up unless you have an Airplay device on the network.
What device are you trying to Airplay to?
Apple TV. AirPlay does show up in System Pref. also in the main menu bar.
You likely have old hardware - too old to support AirPlay.

The computer is a desktop with four drives. It is not a cheap one.
There is no date that give what you are referring to. If you know the codes for year produced, then that would be a great help. If the age of a computer has trouble with its OS X in some areas, such as Safari not automatically opening at startup, and not others even though using 10.10.3 successfully, then it would look like a software design problem. As you can see, the Model Identifier shows 5.1 which probably means May of 2011.
The Apple TV is a 3rd generation and the TV is HDTV.

Are you connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the AppleTV?
Absolutely.
Your Mac Pro needs to be from late 2013 or later per the material I sent you above.
As you can see from this link, it does not meet that requirement.

You can still use the AppleTV with iTunes on your Mac Pro.
You simply cannot use Airplay to push from the Mac Pro to the AppleTV.

I actually hadn't planned to do this, but I did compare the specs for the Mac Pro Late 2013 vs. the Mac Pro 2012.
