Import problem II (cannot import anything)

Ok, so it looks like I am the third person then, that has EXACTLY the same problem. Again, it doesn't matter where I am importing from or to, I can just keep pushing the import button until the cows come home, and NOTHING happens. This is also the way that I imported all of my files before the last 2 updates.

so after days on tech support the only way i was able to fix the issue (and a couple other issues in fcp i found), or at least a work around was to create a new user account. once idid that fcpx 10.2 works fine. it ***** i have to keep switching users on my machine to edit but it's better than nothing. now if apple can have a way to fix your original user account without wiping out all you settings that would be good. i hope this helps.

The way I was able to resolve the issue was downgrading back to 10.1.4. Everything worked the way it was supposed to.

No. Libraries are not backwards compatible. You would have to open a backup library that was crated by 10.1.4.

Which issue do you have? There are a number of different ones with different causes. What are you doing and what happens when you do it? What exactly are you importing from where?

i did all of that reinstalled iOS and Final Cut but the only thing that worked was creating a new user account and editing on that. it works perfect in that new account.

[Respectfully] where is the confusion . . . Favro's original post summed up the problem EXACTLY. And since that post, a number of people (including myself) have reported the EXACT same issue. It is not an isolated bug. Fortunately I was a able to downgrade back to 10.1.4 and get the functionality of the import button back.

The confusion is that there's a lot of different things happening to different people for different reasons. Panasonic cameras are having one problem. NXCAM is having a different problem. Some are having user problems. Some are hardware specific, some are software specific, some are different functions in the application depending on how you import. So when someone says

I have the same issue.

I'm just trying to be clear what the same issue is.

I expressed my frustration before when the initially reported problem (by Favro) was hijacked by the report of a totally different issue. The inability to use the import button is the issue and is not camera specific. In fact, the camera has nothing to do with it at all (I unplugged all cameras and the problem persisted). The Import button does not work to import anything - sound, pictures, previously imported video, etc.

I'm having the same problem described earlier. Can not import media from external drive. Import window is not grayed out all seems fine, but hitting import media does nothing. The only way I can import is by dragging. Thx Tom

You might get a better response if you started a new thread, providing information on your system and any other equipment involved as well as a detailed description of the issue.

It's time-consuming to reconstruct a thread with multiple posters saying they have the same exact issue,
