Apple Watch Shipping Notices

Just curious if anyone has received a shipping notice yet for their Apple Watch If they were lucky enough to get an early delivery date (24th). I know if is probably a bit early but worth asking.

thanks

Don't mistake me here: I've already followed the steps you proposed, and it's your ignorance that you assumed I hadn't. In the interim, I get distinct joy out of showing armchair moderators just how little actual authority they have.

Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, feedback in the case of a poorly handled product release (for ANYONE, not just Apple; if anything, the "outrage" on this is a direct result of their otherwise generally-stellar release practices) has as much value in an aggregate from forums as it does from prefabbed forms that limit how much specific input one can give. If you don't want to read it, don't. Since you make an appeal to the validity of effort, one might posit that you'll reach that goal sooner by simply ignoring any posts you don't find valuable instead of thinking you have the superior approach and the integrity that accompanies it to validate your attempt to control the actions of others.

I don't care if you laugh AT me or WITH me, as long as it's BECAUSE of m. 😉 "I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask him to live for mine." Words to live by.

I have no doubt I'll get my Watch. I also have no doubt that Apple (and anyone else in the general vicinity) will keep hearing about it until I do. 🙂

I've seem comparable fanboy problems at Jeep Wrangler and Tesla websites...their ire seems to dissipate after they get their item. In fact, they then drop off these sites. All watches, to date, are delivered within their promised windows...which still has not reached its first end date.. Such 1st world problems waiting for your toys....yeah I know, I got mine already...Just keep checking to see if yours has shipped, or if your credit card has been charged. then you will have your watch. I'm waiting for an additional band, that was ordered on the 10th...It'll come.

PS I vote for Deggie as the best contributor to this thread...has been all along. Thanks Deggie

Hey, engage in popularity contests and cast aspersions on others all you like. It doesn't invalidate what they (or you, for that matter) have to say.

You may want to consider the possibility that the ire could have been avoided altogether if the launch had been more properly handled. It would have been very easy to do, as well: instead of setting a hard release date (which sets customer expectations), they could have played it safe and announced "Preorders start on April 10, deliveries occur some time between May and June for most customers." Instead, they made the mistake of setting an expectation they then had to back off on because of their own lack of predictive ability for demand. That they remain silent on the issues in the wake of those shipping issues is even worse: if you take customers and give them no transparency on fulfillment issues after an expectation has been set, they grow understandably frustrated. One article noted a valid difference: a captain on an airline that can't land or is leaving late who remains quiet will have very frustrated flyers, whereas one who keeps the flyers updated regularly on what's ACTUALLY happening will find they have much calmer passengers. Using silence to protect one's image has this strange effect of making people feel powerless, which is rarely received well.

For me, this isn't the "end of the line" for Apple products: I love my iPhone, and have used no smartphone EXCEPT an iPhone since initial launch. I preordered minutes after midnight on the expectation that all preorders would be given priority, and would have had a lot less issue with a delayed shipping date if 4-6 week lead time less than 15 minutes after preorders wasn't coupled with brick-and-mortar storefronts receiving product, even if it's only estimated (by one poster here) at around 2,500 units worldwide.

Celebrities are receiving fully-functional Watches. Reviewers were receiving fully-functional Watches. But the people PAYING for them are expected to remain quiet while they receive ZERO updates from the company on what the actual hold-up is, why there were such drastic lead times so early in the preorder process, and what a reasonable estimate for when they'll ACTUALLY receive their product is? All that time, there are SOME customers who were given long lead times but received their product earlier, in some cases earlier than customers who had placed preorders BEFORE them, while Apple's official statements are "We're working as fast as we can to fulfill orders IN THE ORDER THEY WERE RECEIVED"?

Do you begin to understand why, for some customers, it has a lot less to do with being upset at having to wait for their product, but the inconsistency of Apple's extraordinarily sparse acknowledgments of the delays at all, and the inconsistency with which orders are fulfilled in comparison to Apple's statements about how the preorders are being prioritized?

I would hope you might... or maybe you'd just like to White Knight Apple on this.

All,

I know that there are many of you who are still waiting and the recent news about the possible issue with the Taptic engines on some models causing these delays have to be concerning. I don't know if this will help, but I received mine Monday night and I wanted to provide a bit of information about my experience in the past day. This is not to "rub it in", but to let you know in my opinion you should hang in there. To me, the Apple Watch is not life changing but life augmenting... I do agree that it is a very personal device. In the past day, it has allowed me to decouple from my iPhone (in a way) because much of what gets pushed to your phone, now pops to the Apple Watch instead. So, I found myself discarding a lot of email pops, and being plugged into messages that really mattered... messages that I would most likely have missed before because on my phone on vibrate would have been in my pocket and most likely not been felt vibrating.

When I talk about discarding email and messages, I am still balancing notifications, but one thing I will suggest to Exchange users to look into the Outlook App. With the new Focused Inbox it keeps all of the crapmail from flooding your Watch, similar to setting favorites in your Apple contacts... not all iCloud-based email floods your watch, just the important things. Another thing that has amazed me was Maps. I have purged the ability to remember directions with the iPhone, but have spent years driving with my phone cradled in my hand while holding the steering wheel when navigating somewhere. Maps on the watch is awesome... It taps you on the wrist and plays a short "blinker like" tone to indicate a turn coming up... a small twist of your wrist and you can see what to do...

Battery life is a day, but because I am interested in the health features, I typically charge for about 40 minutes before bed and then sleep with the Apple Watch on. I have learned that my resting heart rate (while sleeping) is 54BPM about 10-14 beats slower than my waking BPM... This morning I had the Watch wake me up... the alarm taps and plays a tone... need to work on something toneless for when I need to get up early to let me wife sleep, but I am hoping that Runtastic Sleep Better or some of the other sleeping apps I have will release a watch version soon to augment this as well.

The standing reminders are nice as well. I find I sit more that I thought. Yesterday I also went for a walk/run with Apple Watch Activity. I was still able to use Zombies, Run! on the phone to entertain me during the run, and Activity on the watch to manage the timing, cal, BPM, etc. during the run. Going to try Runkeeper today, but I am not sure I can get that running on the watch while using Activity as well... We'll see.

To close here, the wait is really frustrating. I get it. I was fortunate to get in early with an 04 time whited Shipped on the 28th. Some of us are going to be waiting until June with later times. My encouragement will be don't cancel. The wait will suck, but it is worth it. I really appreciate the pulling back from my phone and being more in tune with what is happening around me. Hang in there. If you at all interested, I am going to be writing more about my experiences here: http://manualmiles.com as I learn more and use the watch more especially around the health features.

The Press, Illuminati and others who provide free marketing for apple get them early and for free...not a surprise, all payers were given firm dates for delivery. none have passed those dates yet. Many have been improved upon. In spite of all the problems... with hardware and software etc, there are no delays, unless we suppose that a range provided dates should be ignored, and only the 1st date in that range should be used for us early adopters....

I'll stop now

My personal contention is NO ONE lacking a preorder should be receiving a product until all the preorders have been filled. I get that celebrities and reviewers are often given special treatment, but the fact remains that even past that, with an estimated 2,500 Watches worldwide having gone to brick-and-mortar stores (i.e., likely but not guaranteed sales), preorder customers (guaranteed sales) are waiting for theirs.

Apple's statements that preorders are being filled in the order they were received is likewise suspect, as this is proved, by the information received even just in this discussion, to not be true. If you have a person who ordered product on April 27th, they don't get their product until the orders from April 26 are fulfilled. THAT is how one ships "in the order received".

Apple's silence on the issue only exacerbates the frustration.
