restart fails after update 10.10.3
after updating from appstore, and seeing 'restarting' on screen, I waited 2 hours for the 'restart' but it did not . WHY, AND WHAT SHOULD I do now?

How far in the restart process does it go? What do you see on the screen?
none of the three links are pertinent. The screen shows a blue box saying 'restarting', and a progress bar that is 'finished' / 'full'
I held the power button down for 1.5 minutes === and no change.
I released it and repeated, also pushing other keys --- and after 1 minute the machine shutdown
I pushed the power button and the machine restarted
I looked at appstore, and saw that the update was applied (I hope that this is a good indication?).
I did a disk utility - verification returned check exit code of 0 ??? Why doesn't it say 'GOOD???)
I did repair disk permissions - nothing changed???? Should have been something??
I do not know what the state of the OSX is at this point - I hope it is OK.
And, thanks for replying!!!!!!!
