Slow Mac Book - How to fix it

Hello,

After running EtreCheck I was suggested by the SW to copy the result and ask for help to fix my slow MacBook. I have the color dot turning constantly giving the impression that the system is busy.

Here is the system information what I got. Any help appreciated.

Nina, you have almost 25 processes killed due to memory pressure which indicates you are running out of memory. Upgrade it to 8 GB. Note that you can upgrade your RAM to max 8GB on your late 2009. Also, you have still got Clean My Mac 2 and Clean My Mac 3 softwares installed which is very dangerous software known to delete important OS X files. Uninstall it quickly. Remove all the unnecessary internet plugins which you don’t need.

Remove Silverlight internet plugin.

Remove Pin it Button safari extension.

Remove Canon scanner app if you don’t need it.

Finally, frankly speaking, probably Clean My Mac has deleted some of the vital Mac OS X files. So, I think its better to do a clean install and go back to your original pre installed Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.1 and manually upgrade it to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and later upgrade to Mountain Lion which is a much stable OS X. Don’t bother to run Yosemite again as its a bit heavy OS X for your older Mac machine....

Hope this helps....

Gran, Thank you very much! This helped a lot! If I think back, the problems started when I started to use the Mac Clean, however I was happy as it saved me memory. First I will definitely clean out the computer and clean install, then I will see how it works before I upgrade the RAM. I very much appreciate your help! Hope it will help others as well.
