My iPhone 5c has been shutting off and won't let me turn it on until I plug it in.

Now this morning, it shut off and when I press the wake button, it has the battery with 3 red lines, the lighting bolt, and the plug. This all is blinking about 3 times and then shuts off. I plugged it in and it still hasn't turned on. It was plugged into for about 7 hours and nothing. I honestly don't know what to do. Please help.

iPhone 5c, iOS 8.3

Hello sassyandshort,

The information outlined below details what to do next should your iPhone fail to start up successfully after charging for at least an hour.

Contact Apple Support to set up service if you have any of these issues:

  • You still see a black screen after charging and resetting.
  • You see a black screen, but can hear alerts, sounds, and vibrations.
  • Your screen is on, but it doesn't respond to when you tap, slide, or try other gestures.
  • You can't force your device to restart because your Home button or Sleep/Wake button is broken or stuck.
  • Your device is stuck on the Apple logo, displays a solid color, or isn't recognized in iTunes.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on
