I hate this new Photos!

I had already spent hours multiple times to get all my photos sorted. I have traveled all over the world and have thousands of pics, also have Faces set up with those locations. Now, after this latest update, everything has totally changed and I am so angry I could scream or choke someone! What can I do to get the iPhoto back and get rid of this update?

Thanks for the help if there is any hope left.

Nothing to "get back" - iPhoto is in your applications folder - launch and use it - no reason in the world to use a program you hate

That was the problem with iPhoto - you lose all your metadata. Totally useless.

Photos and iPhoto are digital asset management systems. They are working well, as long as you do not interfere with the way they are managing the database. Access the photos only usin the provided interface. If you are not using software the way it intended to be used and are fighting it all the way, it it better to switch to a software that matches your intended workflow better.

I was running iOS 10.6.8 and upgraded to El Capitan last week. I too have several thousand pics. I was also very dissatisfied, and attempted to return to iPhoto but it told me my version was outdated, and to go to the App Store for an upgrade. However, when I did that it said it was no longer supported and no upgrades are available in the US. I'm beside myself. Not only the photos, but my videos have been converted to an unusable format and it now says if I convert them, they will probably be corrupted. If you find an answer - let us all know. This is a real issue with Apple this time - and it's certainly changing my way of thinking about them.

Had the iPhoto version that was in Snow Leopard and not sure which one that was. Now with the change to El Capitan, you can no longer see exactly what the features are when you go to Finder/Utilities/Applications as you could before. It seems with everything I try to do with this program I run into an issue. Very upset with it.

Thank you for your help!!! Like others i have my whole photo library set up how i like it and with the new "Photos" app everything was changed. I'm thrilled i came across your brilliance and instruction quickly. again, Thanks! have a great day! Shawn

Time to start looking for a replacement before you are forced to, iPhoto will stop working one day, better to be prepared for that day.
