rMBP 2015 Wake Reason: ARPT (Network)

I can't seem to find out what is waking my Mac up so much. Battery life on standby is terrible. Snippet from running "syslog | grep -i "Wake reason"" through Terminal:

Can't seem to find out the issue via Google. I have extensively searched.

Appreciate any help.

P.S. this is a duplicate from rMBP 2015 10.10.3 Wake Reason: ARPT (Network). I do not know how it ended up in the OS X Mavericks section because I clearly remembered choosing Yosemite from the dropdown list. Anyhow, that one is closed and I would appreciate any help I can get from this section of the forum.

Thanks.

My issue was resolved finally by replacing a cable modem. I'm not sure what caused ARPT: 981.566364: ARPT: Wake Reason: Wake on Scan offload -problem but yesterday I discovered it only happens on 5Ghz wlan. Today morning I went straight to my cable company and asked for a spare modem for testing would it occur with that too. I'm not sure is it a firmware or some kind of setting from router but my rMBP 13" early '15 stays in sleep without any dark/ARPT wakes. Before it drained my battery from 100% to 0% during nights if I did not turn wifi off before closing a lid.

I replied to this thread in earlier and if you want, you can scroll pages back what happened on last autumn. In my case Apple done almost everything for solving this problem but at some time they (Senior Advisor) stop answering for my emails. Not sure what happened but few weeks after that I sold my macbook and now few days ago I bought it back from my friend. Sadly, I recognized ARPT wake ups happen still and I heard from my friend he did not have any issues with sleeps. Because of that I was 100% sure problem occurs only in in my network and I restrict it to 5Ghz wifi.

Modem brand & model: FritzBox 6490.

So if possible, change your wifi to 2,4Ghz, try with another modem or brand/model.

EDIT: Easiest way is to make a hotspot from your smartphone and test if ARPT wake ups occur. If not, it's probably your model/router what cause that.

I solved this same error for myself by turning off in Bluetooth > Advanced "Allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer".

For me I think it was my bluetooth speakers in my house trying to find my Mac all the time. Even though I had unpaired it I believe it was still trying to connect. Unticked that option and hey ho! Slept all night without waking 😀

Hopefully that can be a help for some of you.

It's been a while since I gave up on Apple Support Community for this issue. Good to be back and good to know I haven't lost much company.....

I just want to say that the problem was never solved for me.

And My mac is running out of warranty.

And no, 10.11.4 does nothing to the issue.

I tried booting in safe mode and using it for one day, I turned off messages, FaceTime, back to my Mac, find my Mac, wake for network access, allow bluetooth devices to wake, power nap. Wake reason ARPT persists.

And now even worse, I noticed that even if I turn off wifi and bluetooth before sleep, the am wakes itself up every two hours for wake reason RTC. I've set the standbydelay to 1.5hours, So my Mac actually writes And reads the sleepimage several times per night. I guess this is harmful for both the SSD and the battery.

I recently detected a PPT004 battery error while running apple diagnostics. Happily the applestore replaced my battery with a new one.

The design capacity of battery on rmbp 13' early 2015 is 6559mah, My mac originally had that capacity and dropped to 5900mah before the PPT004 error code appears, and the battery cycle count is no more than 200. After the replacement I get a new 6890mah battery, Used it for half a month with only less than 20 cycles and its already dropped to 6600mah. My friend has a rmpb 15' early 2014 and its now been used one and a half years, yet her battery still has 95% of its design capacity with cycle count already 400 times. That's why I'm relating the unexpectedly quick wearing-out rate of my mac's battery to this wake up issue.

It drives me mad.

What wifi routers are around definitely affects the severeness of the wake reason ARPT issue. My mac wakes much less often in my office than at home.

Since now you have no more ARPT darkwakes, do you still have wake reason RTC? For me I noticed if I turn off wifi and bluetooth before closing lid, no "wake reason ARPT" appears but instead "wake reason RTC" appears once every two hours very accurately; but if I leave wifi on then there's no "wake reason RTC" but tons of "wake reason ARPT".

My mac can't sleep either way.

both 5G and 2.4G and also another router all causes the same problem for me at home.

I now think that I knew the answer to my problem all along: the devil is the bad connection to apple server at home. I always knew that my ISP uses a "caching" mechanism which accelerates bandwidth for a list of frequently accessed sites, which I assume doesn't include apple.com, I usually have big trouble trying to even open apple's homepage -- also pinging apple.com gives a drop rate of more than 9 out of 10 packages.

Both my office and the applestore have a normally good connection to apple server, whereas my mac sleeps beautifully in there.

What I suppose is that a normal sleeping mac with wifi on is in a low power state which constantly exchanges basic data with apple.com, this state must have been very energy efficient despite its persistent network connection. But when my mac is sleeping at home the exchanging of data fails constantly due to bad network, thus my mac constantly wakes up and tries to strengthen the network connection, of course however it tries the connection to apple.com does not improve. Here's a line from the darkwake log:

2016-03-29 18:52:14 +0800 Kernel Client Acks Delays to Wake notifications: [SSP3 driver is slow(msg: SetState to 3)(406 ms)] [AirPort_Brcm4360 driver is slow(msg: SetState to 2)(392 ms)]

Maybe this is a proof for my theory.

When I turn off wifi my mac knows for sure it can't reach apple.com, thus it doesn't maintain any connection at all. Big problem arises when my mac thinks it has a network connection to the internet specifically to apple.com, while in fact the connection is so bad that data transmission is not possible between my mac and apple.com, but it doesn't know this so it just tries to repeat the task time after time and keeps thinking the connection will soon be recovered.

ISP's like the one which I use is common in China, I'm sure the Great Fire Wall also contributes to this connection problem. So whenever I ran across some wifi network which has bad access to apple.com, the wake reason ARPT problem arises immediately.

Let me know if what I said rings a bell for you.
