rMBP 2015 Wake Reason: ARPT (Network)

Quite surprised. Mine is Model MF840 with 16G ram customised. There should not be any issues with 2015 13' model. BTW, El Capitan is way smoother than Yosemite. All kinds of animations are greatly improved.

I have the same issue (rMBP 15" 2015, latest Yosemite release)

Terminal outputs me dozens of:

Power Nap is disabled for battery usage (and there is no Wifi wakeup toggle for battery usage here).

Battery drained by 30% over night. That is simply not acceptable (my previous Macbook was a MBA 13" Mid-2012 that lost like 2-5% a few nights at most).

I reset the SMC a few minutes ago and ran diagnostics (nothing unusual came up).

A temporary fix is to disable wifi before your mac sleeps. 😀

Today morning I chat with Apple Advisor via phone and he wasnt familiar with this issue (I gave this discussions url for him) but after a little chat we chose to try to re-install the OS X and see if both my issues are solved after that and I'm slightly surprised.

I've woke up the unit from sleep now several times without issues with Wi-Fi turning off and there's no anymore wake ups due reason ARPT (Network) in syslogs. Really weird if this is solved by OS X reinstall. Lets see what happens in next few days 🙂

Maybe it's something to do with the removal of airportd. To be honest, with 10.11 public beta 2, I don't have the same issue for several days. But I'd rather not give a conclusion so fast.BTW, I think you came across with the wake reason of "RTC". Right?

Syslog's was full of this almost every two minute in a row.

Edit: And I don't even have ANY AirPort based units in my home.

You mean those wake logs are for the past?

Anyway, are you still turning off wifi before you sleep after your reinstall?

Yup those are for the past and not seen anymore after the re-install. No, Wi-Fi is not turning off anymore, it's solved also by re-install.

I think it depends on the hardware. My laptop had the issue out of the box.

After all, I think El Capitan is a must upgrade which by far solved the problem for me as well.

From using it, how stable would you say El Capitan is? Are you noticing any issues / bugs with OS X itself?

Because the pre-installed OS is preloaded with the problematic airportd. If possible, you could try El Capitan with a new empty partition. 😀

For my personal experience with El Capitan, it's great. It solved the UI lag which exists in Yosemite that long for lots of machines including our latest ones! As I suggested, you could create a new partition to test. You don't have to upgrade.

Edit. El Capitan itself is sure to have certain bugs. But they are all fine to me. Not a big deal indeed. At least for me. Different people have different tolerance level and different apps to use. I would not recommend to install El Capitan. I start with problems after first sleep. Wi-Fi went completely broken, not turned on after shutdowns and startups. I had to take backup via time machine for getting unit working again. So in my case upgrading to El Capitan didn't solve anything.

And unit is rMBP 13" early 2015.

Edit: Try to re-install Yosemite and see if your wake up issue is solved by that. IF not, upgrade to El Capitan and test. Plus take backups before that.
