How long does it take to sync music to apple watch

My watch doesnt appar to take any music. IT sits at syced playlist sync pending.

Does the music come from the phone or itunes over sync cable ? Itunes on the mac doesnt appear to see the watch and removeing the watch from the sync cable makes no difference either

Hi, I had the same issue. The watch needs to be on its charger for playlist to sync to the warch. I did this and it worked 🙂

This is totally unacceptable - I tried to sync a 500Mb playlist (a single album from Apple Music) and it's got to 95% after 20 minutes then stopped. So I paid £600 for a Watch that said it would pay music at the gym without my iPhone and then £10 a month for Apple Music and it si,pale doesn't work. I can see why transferring 1/2 a Gb of music takes a long over BT but if it never finishes that's ridiculous. Did anyone ever test this before selling us an overpriced watch that doesn't do what they aid it would do. Presumably the answer is yes and so why doesn't it work in the real world? If it's to going to sync then I'll cancel Apple Music when it's renews as I just want to listen to new music at the gym. FYI I restarted both Watch and iPhone and still now just stuck on "Sync pending" not even showing as 95% complete any more

yes, it is slow. I sycnced 2GB, but left it on over night because of the nature of transferring files over Bluetooth. The bandwidth and transfer protocol of Bluetooth is the problem. The watch does what it's supposed to. Perhaps the software may someday use wifi to the heavy lifting.

anyway, the watch is first gen., and the initial sync problem explained in this thread ***** bad.

I spent 2 hours with Apple Support's chat, the last hour with an expert. Neither the regular support person nor the expert could get this to work. I rebooted both. Unpaired and paired. Put on charger and removed from charger. It worked fine the first time BEFORE I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 8.4.

I created a test playlist with 1 song in it. And yes, the song is on my phone and not the cloud. Now a single 5.6 MB song took over an hour to sync. Well, I have 143 songs. That will be about 6 days of the phone and watch on their chargers and not on me. That's not going to happen.

My guess is that iOS 8.4 somehow screwed this up. I guess I'll have to wait for Apple to fix this "feature". Total fail.

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.4. The sync would never go, then I realized that I have iTunes Match, so I went to Music app to the playlist and selected "Make available offline". The list started syncing! Both iPhone and apple Watch were charging, but it only got to 99%! Then stopped. Will see if it finishes after discharging my iPhone and Apple Watch a bit.

Also, will add that the 99% sync went by fairly quickly but both iPhone and apple watch were still connected to their chargers And both devices were charged 100%.

Having the same issue as everyone else. 2 GB worth of music taking 18 hours to sync, then only 25 songs are available on the Watch. I'm trying the unpair method but that is taking 20 minutes and it's still unpairing. I agree with one comment: Did anyone at Apple actually test this feature? Apple should put together an "official" fix for this issue and make it available for all to follow. Loyal Apple customer but I'm NOT happy about this.

Hi. I had the issue of the watch never fully syncing and spent just about a whole day trying different solutions including the above and nothing worked, it never fully synced. Finally tinkering around i found a solution. Select the complete playlist or all of the songs in itunes and right click on them, then select the option to convert ID3 tags and select to convert all of them to latest version. That did the trick for me. Hope it helps others struggling with the same problem.
