I have the same question: Same Wi-Fi Network?
If i look at my wifi router, both are connected to my Wifi. Apple Watch and iPhone. But Apple watch did not connect to iPhone. So it looks like a bug.
sometimes it works. Sometime it does not. But in every case Apple Watch and iPhone are connected to the same Wifi (look at my route setting and let it show me current connection). So it could be in your cases Apple
Watch is connected to your Wifi but not connected to the iPhone. You can not see on the Apple Watch if it is connected to the WiFi. You have to check it on the Router.
SO i think is not connection problem by the Apple Watch to your Wifi. It could be a connection Problem to the iPhone OVER WiFi. Looks like a bug on iOS or Watch OS.
Perhaps you airport express is broadcasting 5Ghz, I read that apple watch doesn't connect to 5GHz , try connecting your phone to 2.4gz and pair with your apple watch.
Read my text. It a dual band. 5 Ghz and 2,4 GHz. Both are connected to the airport. But Sometime Apple Watch does not connect to iPhone though they are connected to the same wifi.
If Apple Watch and iPhone are on the same WiFi network (look at you routers) but can't connect each other, turn off WiFi on you iPhone. Wait some second. Turn WiFi on again. Wait some second. Open Apple Watch App on your iPhone and Select "General" "About". Now AW and iPhone are cennected over WiFi.
OK. perhaps i got a solution in my case. What did not tell: i got a wifi with 2 access points to increase the range for my wifi.
it looks like the iphone i permanent switching the access points if it is on some places. So i do some fine tuning for sending range of the access points and it seems to be work much better.

For the wifi network that your watch can't connect to, go to the iPhone Wifi network page and "forget" that network. Then reconnect to it while the watch is connected to the iPhone via bluetooth. Once the iPhone re-establishes wifi, this password would be passed to the watch.
If you don't re-enter the password for the wifi network, the new Apple Watch won't connect to it."

Thank you so much for your answer! This has been the only thing bugging me about my watch ... now it is perfect!! Thanks again!
Yeah, it helps to forget the password, but i have to do it again and again. Using WLAN in the office i have to do it every day, also at home. Please fix this bug.
Sometimes it help if you turn on and turn off the flightmode on the Apple Watch.
i got a case where the Apple
Watch loose the Bluerooth connection to my iPhone 5S every pair of seconds. After turn on and turn of the flightmode, connection is stabe again.
So the same is to the WiFi Connection. So it looks like a bug in watchOS
Rather than un-pair and re-pair I did what you said and forgot the network, then with the watch connected via bluetooth, I connected to the network with the password. I turned off BT on my phone and watched my phone attach to my wifi (saw it on my router). Thanks!!
Thanks for this. My work network, does not have the option to select between 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz. When I forgot the network on my 6+ then manually connected to the network, it finally connected to the work network. I tried forgetting and reconnecting several times by choosing the network, and it didn't work, but manually selecting "Other" did it for me.
Thanks
This worked a treat for me.
The best way to test this is to ping your iPhone with the Bluetooth switched off. This wasn't possible before I re joined my wifi network. Now it will ping my phone through wifi. Result!
Yes... thanks.. this helped me. Both the phone and watch need to be on 2.4 GHz to start with. Once the watch is up and running on that wifi, I switched the phone back to the 5 GHz and the watch remains happily connected to the wifi on the 2.4 GHz.
That's it! It was a simple and easy solution for me.
You have to join the 2.4ghz b/g network. If you have both bands' SSIDs the same, temporarily or better yet- permanently change the 2.4ghz to "Wi-Fi 2.4" then join it from your iPhone, Turn off Bluetooth, Test your watch, rejoin the 5ghz SSID, turn on bluetooth on your phone. It worked for me. Good luck!
