Apple Watch and High Heart rates

The Watch's heart rate sensor is generally receiving positive reviews. However, I haven't seen anyone test it at high heart rates which is a common fall down area of most optical sensors.

Now that the Watch is out there, I was wondering if any of you have worked out at say 150 - 180bpm and how the watch's on board sensor responded?

DUring workouts, the heart rate is accurate, problem is when its taking the heart rate every 10 minutes. It will show 138bpm while on the other wrist with another apple watch on workout mode will show 65bpm. But once workout mode is activated, or just tap to read the heart rate again, it will drop down To normal.

which makes my watch useless to use the sleep tracking app unless i put it on workout throughout the night.

Hi ttgolf.

Just wondering if getting the sensors wet before running has helped with the accuracy? I've had my watch (38mm sport) and have used it for 3 or 4 runs. I've noticed that while resting and walking the heart rate monitor is pretty accurate but running is all over the board. At one point during a run the watch showed my heart rate at 198 (over my max heart rate!) and I wasn't even working hard but just doing an easy jog with a neighbor. I'd say my actual heart rate was 130-140.
