Windows 7 will not boot after installation on mac pro

I have a mac pro 2006, and wish to install windows7 on another internal drive, when I follow bootcamp to the point where it says load installation disc for windows 7, it tries to load, but then I get an empty folder with a question mark in it. So then I tried an install on just an internal hard drive not using bootcamp, this time it seems to do a full installation, but when it tries to restart I get a mac symbol, with a no entry sign, any help please.

If your second drive has a full installation of Windows, because the NVRAM is set to boot from the OS X Device path, it causes issues, for reboot.

Plug in both drives OS X and Windows after powering down the MP. Run

a. SMC Reset - Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

b. NVRAM Reset - How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

You may need BCA 4.x to install W7 32-bit. From the link posted earlier

Still no joy I researched bootcamp 4, I cannot download it until I am in Windows 7, and I can never get W7 started. I tried installing windows xp, which worked, and then trying to select an upgrade, not it will not let me do that.

What am I missing?

The reference to Bootcamp 4, is not to the BC drivers version, but BC Assistant version.

I can only download 4.0, but will only run wehn windows is running which I cannot do, I have tried looking for bootcamp assistant version 4, but I just end up where I started, being led to bootcamp 4.0,which I can download but not install. Any suggestions, this is driving me mad.

Bootcamp Assistant 4.0 is available on Lion or Mountain Lion. Can you install either version on an external USB (OS X: Installing OS X on an external volume - Apple Support) and use it to install Windows?

Hi, I had a 250Gb with Lion on it, and of course it has BC 4.0 on it, so I put it in and started up. I used BCA, but the result was the same, when it gets to the part where it says load install disc, the screen goes blank and then I get a mac symbol interspersed with a question mark.

Is it Mac Pro - Technical Specifications ? I need to know the Graphics Processor.

When you try to install Windows, what are the other devices connected to the MP? Your MP may have dual Optical drives. Can you disconnect one of them and test Windows installation?

1. Remove your OS X disk.

2. Your MP should only have Keyboard/Mouse/Display/Optical Drive and designated Windows drive.

3. Run the Windows Installer and install Windows like a normal PC.

The 7300 GPU seems to be your problem. The Installer does not use the Generic VGA driver or the nVIdia drivers, if available on the Installer disk. As a test, can you try Windows 8.1?

Same result I am afraid. I do not have windows 8, it would seem replacing the 7300 gpu would be the best solution, do you have any recommendations?
