2009 iMac7,1 Core 2 Duo, 10.10.3
If I shut it down, unplug the power cable, then plug it back in, it immediately powers on. I reset the PRAM but obviously with this problem I cannot reset the SMC, so I'm stumped. Any ideas?

Try another power source, also are you using a UPS or power strip or is it plugged directly to the wall plug?
It's in a power strip/surge protector, no UPS. Tried plugging it directly into a different outlet. Turned on as soon as I plugged it in.

Try another power source and eliminate the power strip. You should be using a UPS too, especially if you are in an area that has power surges, brown outs, outages, and lighting.
