Answer/Turn on FaceTime remotely?

Hello! Don't judge how much of a ridiculous request this is- but, we have a 6 mo old puppy that we leave in a kennel when we leave. To keep an eye on him (mainly to make sure he's not crying and barking), we setup a "baby monitor" by propping my iPad up facing his kennel, then Facetiming the iPad from my iPhone.

This allows me to turn on my phone screen every once and awhile and check in on him and make sure he's asleep... If i'm not looking at him, I just press the power button on my phone, which pauses the FaceTime session.

The biggest problem with this is, once in a while, we'll randomly lose connection, and I can't figure out a way to reconnect. I would have to be back at the iPad to accept the call from my iPhone to restart it. Is there any way to setup FaceTime so it will automatically answer and it doesn't require the swipe from certain callers? Or is there an App out there that would accomplish this same thing? Preferably, I wouldn't need to leave my FaceTime on the entire time, and I could just open the camera and peek in. The solution needs to have 2 way audio. I also have the new MacBook Air if there is a solution that would work using that.

Thoughts?

Thank you so much!

When my niece was little, my sis used one called 'cloud baby monitor'

We only used it on the same wifi network, so I don't know if it'll work over the net or not. It's not a free app but I don't recall it being too expensive. You basically put the app on two different devices, use one to broadcast, one to receive. They say limitless range, but I don't know if they mean 'at home and at work over the internet' or just 'anywhere in the house'
