is apple watch compatible with iPhone 5S

Is Apple watch compatible with iPhone 5S? Does it work seamlessly or has restrictions as 5S is an old model?

This is what is listed on the  Watch general information page:

Apple Watch requires an iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus and iOS 8.2, which includes the new Apple Watch app.
