EyeTv hybrid and sleep issue

I have a new eyeTV hybrid module plugged into my 20" apple display and connected to my MacPro.
Whilst the i am satisfied with the module as it gives me access to both DVT channels and the five + one (Sky) analogue channels, i do have to plug the module out to make the macPro sleep.
This is an annoyance/inconvenience.
Has any one had similar problem or a solution so that the module can be left plugged in the USB with the MacPro in sleep mode ?

I have a different model (EyeTV 200) but use the same software. I have found it necessary to leave the EyeTV software running, for sleep to work. Set the EyeTV "General " preferences to Start EyeTV when a device is plugged in, but not to open a Live TV window at startup. When you are finished with EyeTV, don't quit, just close the window (⌘W).

I have the EyeTV 200 and am thinking of selling it to buy the Hybrid. The difference between the 200 and the Hybrid (aside from the Hybrid having HDTV support in addition to normal cable analog support), as you probably know, is that the Hybrid uses the Mac Pro to do the compression while the 200 does it internally. How is your processor load when using the Hybrid in normal and HDTV mode?

Try connecting it directly to the Mac Pro. I just setup an EyeTV hybrid on a Mac Pro 2.66 with 3GB of memory and 10.4.8 with EyeTV software 2.3.2 and I was able to put the Mac Pro to sleep. Once I woke the Mac Pro it began playing again.

You might try and reinstall with EyeTV 2.3.2 and see if that solves your problem.

EyeTV Hybrid uses about 73-74% of the available CPUs spread over all 4 processors on a Mac Pro 2.66GHz for 1080 HD content. That works out to be almost 20% per processor. Sleep is supported for non-recording periods and it can wake from sleep automatically to record a show.

While using the analog mode, EyeTV uses approximately 14% of the CPUs spread over the four processors.

With EyeTV 2.3 + TwinHan DTV module no problem setting Mac Pro to sleep. However I find Mac will not automatically sleep after recording despite a 40m time-out to sleep being set in Energy saver prefs. It will wake from sleep fine to record a show.

How is the noise levels on the MacPro with 1080 playback and recording?

I'm debating getting one and integrating it into my setup, but can't tolerate extra noise in my viewing area. Figured it'd beat getting a Tivo Series 3. Biggest issue with my G5 2.7DP is that it skips frames on playback and you can barely stomach the thing sitting in an adjacent room it's that LOUD. Throw a quick action scene across it and you start to see some jittering so a macPro might very well be in my future.

I have never seen the Mac Pro be able to go to sleep after a recording was completed. I do not believe that function exists in EyeTV.

i was under the impression that after waking up and eyetv starting the recording (with open a live tv window unchecked), the mac wouldnt be 'idle' until the recording stopped. so if you put a 5 minute sleep time in the energy saver prefpane it should sleep 5 mins after the recording stops. if the live tv window is told to open when the app does, then the mac wont sleep..

I have an EyeTV 200 and have had problems sleeping with the unit for some time now - spread out across a Dual 2.5, Quad G5 and finally my Mac Pro 2.66...

It is capable of sleeping but this seems to not work very well... it seems to have something to do with either the Helper app or some of the .plist files... something about them is preventing the computer from sleeping... I can hear my drives spinning up and down...

Support has had little success - claiming that this is a very rare thing... not sure why it is happening...
