Can I safely wear my iWatch in the shower?
I have had my I watch for about a year now I swear a lot working out in it and I frequently wash my hands and the water does get in the watch and behind it. I always take it off to shower or swim. It's a nice watch and I wouldn't chance it although it is water resistant
From what I have read (don't have mine yet) they are somewhat "water resistant" (probably good enough to get caught in the rain) and I believe there is a video of someone actually testing it by swimming with it. But if it was me, I would probably take it off to shower or bath.
The Apple Watch complies with the IPX7 standard for water resistance.
Read this article. The answer is YES, you can wear it in the shower. However, as poster @swandy warns, do you really want to wear an expensive electronic device in the shower even if it can take it?
No
According to specifications, you can as it is waterproof to IPX7 standards. But I agree with others. I never wear mySeiko in the shower so I would never consider wearing a smartwatch in the shower. It's not too inconvenient to remove it, but each to their own I suppose.
Cheers
Pete
I bet the steam can get into places that water can't.
So, maybe have cold showers only? 😉
But how will you wash your wrist?
I won't be taking mine in the shower.
you CAN and it PROBABLY won't break it
but I would not recommend it by any means
why would you want to do that?
Tim Cook (Apple president) says he showers with his.
Apple's rating is for 30 min immersion to a few feet. Apple Watch should have no trouble with showers, and getting Apple Watch wet while washing your hands or taking a normal 5 - 15 min shower.
Leather bands will not take well to this, though.
I wouldn't as the Apple watch guide states:
Submerging Apple Watch is not recommended. Apple Watch has a water resistance rating of IPX7 under IEC standard 60529. The leather bands are not water resistant. Water resistance is not a permanent condition and Apple Watch cannot be rechecked or resealed for water resistance. The following may affect the water resistance of Apple Watch and should be avoided:
ipx7 states that a device can be under water approx 3 feet or 1 meter. i would recommend taking it under water to often though. i took my watch to the kids splashpad water park and was allowing it to go under water falls etc and get soaked. i wasn't worried at all. nothing happened at all.
as for showering, it seems like it should be fine but what concerns me is all this talk about steam. if that is truly the case, i would avoid showers if they are steamy.

I don't understand why you would take a hard-to-acquire (for now) device that starts at $400 into the shower when the manufacturer explicitly says you should not.
You do know it is not called the iWatch right?
That wasn't the question.
It is shower proof and if for example you are at a gym where things can be stolen from lockers it is nice to know you can safely shower with it.
