Audiobooks on Apple Watch
I am trying to get audiobooks onto my watch so I can listen to them while running. Has anyone else done this?
As we know, the Apple Watch app on the iPhone allows you to choose playlists to sync. However it seems like audiobooks are now separated from music in such a way that you can't add them to music playlists. At least, when I create a playlist on my iPhone for books, and then edit it, and choose to add songs to it, Audiobook files are not listed. You can't even see the Audiobooks tab when you are adding to playlists.
I've found that I can create a playlist in iTunes on my mac, and drag audiobook files into the playlist there. However when I then sync my iPhone to my mac, the playlists do not show up on the iPhone. This may be related to having iTunes match turned on, I'm not sure. But the fact is the audiobook files are on the phone, but there does not appear to be any way to get them from there onto the watch.
I guess the next thing to do is to edit the files to make them appear as music rather than audiobooks. But that seems like an odd thing to have to do--audiobook syncing seems like an obvious need and one that should not require strange workarounds like that.
Has anyone else gotten this to work? Am I missing something obvious?
