I want to sink my old MacBook Pro OS X V 10.6.8 with my iPad and IMac w/Yosemite but can't get Mibile Me to authintecate
with iCloud.

But 10.6.8 does not support iCloud
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Yosemite preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion, Mountain Lion or Yosemite, provided it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Yosemite (10.10.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.

Yosemite is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications). Mountain Lion can be obtained the Online Apple Store. (Mavericks is no longer available.)

It is possible to make very limited use of iCloud with Snow Leopard, and there are some third-party applications which can help. More details here:

My MacBook Pro seems to qualify for Yosemite in that it has OS X 10.6.8, 2.66 GHz core 2 Duo processor, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 and more than 8 GB of available space (I don't recall when I purchased it [mid/late 2007 or later]) but when I try to update software, Apples software update tells me that my software is up to date. Thus I don't have Yosemite on my MackBook Pro. Are you saying that I can purchase Yosemite from Apple and load it on my MacBook Pro even though when I attempt to go through Apple's software update program it indicates my software is already up to date?
You get Yosemite by opening the mac App Store App and downloading it there.
Not as Roger pointed out some app may not run in higher than Snow Leopard.
Also, 4 GB of RAM is marginal. You can get more memory here

Software update merely brings one version of OSX 0 e.g. Snow Leopard, Lion, etc, to the maximum. Moving to a higher system is an upgrade and has to be installed (and in some cases paid for) separately. Yosemite is free but as said you have to download it from the Mac App Store. Please make a full backup of your Mac before doing this: you should be able simply to install it over your existing system without affecting your data, but it's wise to take precautions just in case of a problem. And do note my caveat above about PPC programs.
