Can I partition and run Mountain Lion (10.8.5) and Yosemite on the same Macbook Pro with Retina?

Need to run an older version on Quark on a weekly basis so need to maintain OS X 10.8.5... want to be able to run Yosemite for newer software. Short of buying another computer, what are my options?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Create a new partition using Disk Utility and install Yosemite on the new partition. Do you have a Yosemite installer? If not, then while booted in your current system go download the installer from the App Store. When it finishes it will start automatically. Don't click on the Install button. Instead just quit the application. Make a copy of it in your Downloads folder.

Whenever you are ready just re-run the installer, but be sure that you select your empty partition as the target for the installation.
