On one of my Mac Mini's (late 2012), upgraded to 16GB RAM, I keep getting out of memory messages when running apps and on checking the activity monitor it is showing 0% for all running apps under the compressed memory column. I'm running OS-X 10.10.3.
Any ideas on what's going on here? I've tried resetting the NVRAM....

That looks like an error message from the application itself, suggesting that the problem is with the application, not your system.
The error message is indeed from the application itself, however I believe that this is caused by the compressed memory not being applied for some reason by the OS - all my other Mac Mini's show activity under the compressed memory column in the activity monitor?
From the looks of the Activity Monitor information, I would guess you simply have not used enough RAM for the system to need to do any compression.
I still believe that there is an issue here. On my other mac's when I've launched apps, the compressed memory does show some activity. On this particular Mac, no matter how many apps I have launched, I cannot get any activity to show whatsoever - this can't be correct?
The system isn't compressing memory because is doesn't yet need to; 16GB is pretty generous. The 'Memory' column includes shared memory (system libraries) so there can be a lot of 'double counting' in the figures. You can control+click on the 'Memory' column headers to get other measures.
Try opening Safari and open a dozen tabs with different complicated pages in each one of them, e.g. some pages news.bbc.co.uk. I'm sure you'll be able to start compression eventually.
Meanwhile, your original issue is a bug, or corrupted file, associated with Solibri Model Viewer. You'll probably need to contact its developer for assistance as I doubt that enough users will be reading this forum for you to get an answer here.

Some apps will say "out of memory" when they mean "hard drive space." How full is your hard drive??
I finally got to the bottom of this issue and as discussed earlier the problem lay with the Solibri software. An uninstall and reinstall from a fresh downloaded app resolved the issue. Obviously the compressed memory thing was just a red herring coupled with my ignorance of how the mac OS actually handles memory.
