Q: Notifications on both apple watch and phone?

Is there any way to have notifications like iMessage or Text message go to both the Apple Watch and iPhone?
For example I have my watch only giving Haptic notifications so not to annoy me or anyone. I would like to have my notifications on both because when I have my phone setup for notifications with sound it is nice to hear them and look. Now with my watch it seems like all my notifications only on my watch because my iPhone is usually in "sleep" unless I was using it.

Apple Watch, iOS 8.3

I see what you mean.  Check out this Apple Support article for information and an answer on how notifications work between your iPhone and Apple Watch:

Yes, I did see that thanks. I posted from that article. I'm hoping they move to let you pick to have notifications on both.

Sometimes I don't feel the haptic notifications (even though I have them on strong) but I would hear the notification from my phone and look on my watch.

    Ugh!

I agree completely, I think the user having the option to have notifications on both devices would be great.  I'm not always aware of the haptic on my watch, also like having the sound show up on my phone (especially if I'm not in the same room with my phone), plus the alert that shows on the face as well.  This would be an excellent software update!

You can have notifications on both, which I found out by accident. If you have 'Wrist Detection' set to off then you get alerts on both - well I have been! Hope this helps

That seems like a good temporary solution till they allow us to do both from settings. I'd like to be able to use wrist detection and get alerts on my phone too. I have custom vibrations and I'd like to use them still to know who is texting me without looking at my phone or watch.

Thanks it worked. I was thinking about returning this watch and leaving the apple family to go back to my moto 360.

But if you turn off Wrist Detection, doesn't that mean you can't use a Passcode and therefore can't use Apple Pay and Passbook? Sort of defeats one of the nice reasons to have the Watch on.

another issue to all this is night time.  if you are charging the watch an phone by your bedside then how would you hear a call or message come in.  i leave my phone on vibrate and it will wake me up, but now the watch gets everything so i wont get woken up.

Turn off mirror do not disturb in watch settings then whenever you're going to go charge the watch or if you dont even want notifications on the watch, turn do not disturb on the watch.. hope this helps!
