iPod Touch 5G won't turn on

I have an iPod Touch 5th generation that won't turn on. I don't know what happened to it, I just left it and found it like this. Its never happened before. The home button is broken so I am unable to perform a reset. My computer won't recognize it either so I am unable to use the software that I have seen suggested in other posts. Is there any way to fix the problem and/or would apple be able to do anything to reset it if I went to a store? Thanks for your help
