Hello all, I just got a new monitor, and it is very squashed. The screen is otherwise fine, but everything looks stretched out horizontally and it is disturbing me no matter what I am doing. How do I fix this? I already tried going into system preferences and changing the resolution, but the only other one was just zoomed up. Help!!

Ok, the problem here has changed. I have adjusted the resolution in the screen itself, but now it is displaying a section in the middle of the monitor with two black bars on either side. This is about the size of my previous monitor. How do I get it to fit across the whole monitor without stretching the image?
I believe the monitor is an asus ve247h. It is connected to my computer by vga, I am saving the hdmi for something else. That is about all I know.
The "Aspect Control" in the monitor options are Full or 4:3
Take a screenshot and post it here.
If the lines show on the screen shot that would mean the graphics processor has problems.

Ok, uh, silly me, I restarted the computer and it fixed the problem. đ
