Do Not Disturb Chats Still Show Up on Apple Watch

I'm in a group chat with about 7 people and on my iPhone 6 I have the chat set to "do not disturb." On my Apple Watch I have messages set to "mirror" iPhone but whenever someone sends a message my wrist still taps. Ive had to turn off all message notifications because the constant tapping is annoying. Anyone else expei nice this? Am I doing something wrong?

To ensure that the issue is brought to Apple's attention, you may wish to submit feedback here:

Since I am not the only one frustrated with this I thought I would share my findings.

I spent some time with Apple Support today. Looks like this issue (for me at least) only exists in certain use cases:

- Single iMessage user OK

- Group iMessage users OK

- Single SMS user NOT TESTED

- Group SMS users NOT OK

My case will be escalated to the engineering team. Let's see what they say.

After QUITE some time with Apple Support I have been told that the DND mode works ONLY with iMessage and NOT regular text messages. Even though it works for me on individual text messages and blocks both SMS and iMessage. However they told me they need MORE information from diagnostics on my phone so WE SHALL SEE but I can't believe this doesn't bother EVERYONE!

this explains a lot as the thread that causes trouble (meaning does not relay DND to watchos) has one android user

if apple clearly listed this in public facing info and trained the apple store people, then apple's genius bar and store employees would not have to sound like dummies. no offense intended. i mean the employees are trying to fix a problem that does not have a fix.

This has to be the single most frustrating aspect of the apple watch. I absolutely love the watch for every other reason but the fact that this simple bug has not been fixed is infuriating. I have been forced to start using groupMe for multiple group messages because of this bug and I am continuously asking my friends to use it instead of our much more convenient group MMS thread. So now everyone just rags on me for having an apple watch because it is the cause of this issue. I thought for sure they would have fixed this in WatchOS3 but the fact that they haven't makes me hesitant to recommend the watch to anyone. I already was not planning on getting an iPhone 7 due to the lack of a headphone jack, and now I also have no interest in ever buying a new apple watch. shame on you apple, you are losing life-long fans left and right with these missteps
