Slideshow photo titles

In the Photos app for Mac, I cannot find a way to show the titles of my pictures while my slideshow plays. And yes, I made sure the photos have titles.

I used to be able to do this in iPhoto, but cannot find a way to do it in Photos. I've looked high and low. At this point I've accepted they took this feature away, but wanted to throw this out there.

Thanks!

You can ctrl-click into the text field, and then use "Font > Show fonts" from the contextual menu: This will let you pick a different font and color (I tested with macOS Sierra 10.12.5 - I don't know if it has been possible in earlier versions).

But I do not know of any way to move the text box.

I am not using the text slides at all. What I am doing is to duplicate all photos that I want to use in slideshows and in the screensaver (with Image > Duplicate), and then I am using the Markup extension to write text (Title and date) directly int the image. Then I am using the annotated image in the slideshow.

Unfortunately you are right. It is no longer possible to add titles to a slideshow.

You may want to send feedback to Apple with a feature request. The feedback form for Photos is here.

If you still have iPhoto or Aperture installed, use these applications to present your slideshows for the time being.

I have same complaint. It appears that I must enter a caption on every slide picture that matches the field to display the same information.

Yes, the batch changing options from iPhoto are not supported in Photos.

As a work around, you could try to use Apple Scripts to batch change the titles and captions. We started a collection of Applescripts on the User Tips page, have a look: Photos for Mac

You have to manually add the title of each photo to the slide in the slideshow:

Select the slice at the bottom of the slideshow window and click on the + button at the right and select Add Text;

We have to do that for each photo/slide. Be sure to tell Apple what missing features you'd like restored in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

That is great, OT! I missed that option, because, when I first tried it, the "Add Text" was always greyed out. But that is only for the first slide. Good to know, that there is at least an option. Only, it is a pity, that the captions from the slides cannot be used.
