Netflix Won't Stream Via AirPlay on Apple TV

I just got off a chat with Netflix because the Netflix app on my iPhone would not stream video to the Apple TV via Peer to Peer Airplay.

I have an iPhone 5S, and a recently purchased Apple TV, all software is current on both.

I launch the Netflix app on my iPhone and start streaming a movie all via LTE. Then I touch the AppleTV logo on the bottom right, select my Apple TV from the menu, the iPhone shows me that the video is now being sent to my TV, the Apple TV gets the spinning circle as if it's loading, then both the iPhone and Apple TV display an error message that "an error occurred loading this content. cannot play movie. Try again later."

Netflix told me that their app should support AirPlay from the phone to the ATV and that the problem I'm experiencing is an Apple TV problem. Before I try to contact Apple, I thought I would see if anyone else is having this problem and perhaps solved it.

I can stream other content from my iPhone directly to the AppleTV via peer-to-peer AirPlay, including videos downloaded from iTunes. But I don't see any settings that I could change either on the iPhone or the Apple TV which might be causing this problem with Netflix.

You mean using the iPhone and TV on the same wifi network?

I don't have a problem streaming when my iPhone and TV are connected to the same wifi network. I also have no problem when the iPhone is not connected to the same network, but the TV is connected to the internet. The problem is when I disconnect both from the wifi network. Wifi is turned on, and the iPhone is using LTE, and the TV has no internet connection. But AirPlay uses the peer-to-peer feature available in late generation to display video from the iPhone without a direct network connection between the two. Unfortunately Netflix does not stream.

Netflix says it should, so this must be an Apple problem.

Yes, when the TV is connected to the internet. But the way I'm using it is in mobile situations where I don't always have access to wifi, so the iPhone uses its LTE connection to access netflix, and then theoretically AirPlay Peer-to-peer will stream that content to the TV.

All the Apple Apps work this way, and Netflix says it should as well. So I can only assume at this point I need to contact Apple about it.

I Have the same issue. When Peer to peer I cannot AirPlay any apps to the ATV that require my phone to stream from the Internet. I.e Netflix, All4, BBC player.

I have read elsewhere that is has something to do with my phone trying to talk to ATV using Bluetooth and wifi at the same time. Because of this, the phone can't also access its mobile data network.

So in effect the phone can't stream from the Internet and talk to the ATV at the same time.

Ive also read there is a work around using a wireless router not connected to the Internet.
