Youtube video turns into a black screen randomly

Has anyone found a solution to this? I'm facing the same problem and I've searched every where with no answer.

I tried Linc Davis' way, but I still have the random-black-screen problem.

Help!

From the menu bar, select

 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...

In the sheet that opens, check the box marked

Delete All Site Data and Settings

then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.

Try these steps:

Open Safari - Clear History and Website Data.

Instead of going with the nuclear option and potentially losing customizations and stored data for every website, go to the Safari menu then Preferences. Click on Privacy and then click on the Details button under Remove All Website Data. Search for youtube, select it, and then click the Remove button.

Same thing happens to me and it seems that reseting cache not helps. After some time (in my case all I need to do is login back to youtube) problem just happens again. Does anybody else have same issue?

I don't have flash installed and I've also cleared all history etc, still got the issue.

Yes, I have the same problem. It only just started happening.

It happens with both the old and new Youtube player for me, but you can try switching here just in case:

Doh! It came back for me too. Please right click in the video window and then select Report Playback Issue and file a report.

Happening for me as well. Started before I updated to Safari 8.0.6. Occurs on youtube in my Chrome browser also.

Tried the listed fixes with no success.

Yep same for me, Its OK for me in FireFox just Safari, only starting today for me, was OK yesterday and I updated yesterday.

Also does not need to be on youtube site, happens on youtube videos that are embedded into another site webpage.

It recently started happening to me after safari update. Tried tips listed above without any success.

I have tried both solutions in this thread, and rebooted afterwards and no joy. It's so bad that Youtube is effectively down for me until this Safari problem is resolved or a working solution is found.

To be clear I:

• Followed the instructions provided by Linc Davis
• And I took the nuclear option and deleted all history and website data.

No joy.

I started to have the same problem today. Until Apple gives us a fix I successfully played the videos that went black on Firefox.
