Photos from my iPhone aren't showing up in Photos app on Mac

... I have iCloud Photo Library enabled on both devices. Both devices are signed into the same iCloud account. Photos I upload from my camera to my Mac DO show up on in my iPhone's Photos app. But iPhone photos are NOT showing up in Photos on my Mac. Anybody have any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I have uploaded 2500 photos and 41 videos but since one week nothing happens : i still have 201 photos to be uploaded and the last photos in my iphone do not appear on my mac. However, they appears on iCloud.com... It seems that we are still beta testing even with IOS 8.3 and Yosemite... and no way to understand what happens : Apple should add a uploading/downloading panel to see the process. I will call them but it's very, very annoying and discouraging...

I am experiencing the same issue (sort of).

Mine seems different, however, because I do not use iCloud photostream. I'm trying to keep everything local on my computers.

Still, I have taken hundreds of photos on my phone that either A) aren't getting imported into Photos App, or B) Photos App isn't recognizing the photos as having not been imported (in the "import photos" window in Photo).

Not sure why it's not properly recognizing whether or not photos have been imported, but it is slightly frustrating. Any help out there?

I had the same issue and thought it would just be temporary during the upload of 40.000 photos. But now that my iMac uploaded and downloaded everything, nothing syncs 😟. Now I have different sets of images on my iMac Photos app, the MBP Photos app and on my iPhone!

Photos from the iPhone do NOT appear on either my iMac or MBP. Photos from the iMac do NOT appear on my iPhone or MBP. It's frustrating. I turned iCloud Photos off and on on the devices, but it did not help. The only way to sync my photos now is to connect my phone via cable to my iMac!

Apple, please fix this. It's a horrible mess 😟

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Finally, I found the fix for me and it was very easy. You'd think Apple would have posted it.

For me - Within iTunes, it did not list 'Photos' as a possible sync option and didn't recognize any of the 16,000 photos on my mac.

The fix was - Close iTunes. Go into Photos App. If you can see your photos, all you have to do is go to 'Preferences' in Photos and 'Set as System Library'. Then close and reopen and close (just to be sure 🙂) and open iTunes, then open Photos. All was good! Hope this works for anyone else with this issue as I wasted 4 days prior to this.

I have the same problem here. What's showing up in Photo app on my laptop is not the same as the iPhone Photo app. I don't use iCloud, so it's all direct sync. I also deleted the iPod Photo Cache, and this did not fix it. I have photos I took last week that refuse to show up, even though they're on the computer. Further more, only 19 of 52 videos I shot sync over. "Use as System Library Folder" is selected in Photo prefs (it's greyed out, meaning I assume that when I migrated from iPhoto it defaulted to this).

I'm having the same issues, photos that are on my iPhone are not uploading to my Mac. I'm not familiar with the "Photo app" people are referring to so I haven't been able to do any of those suggestions however I didn't have this problem until this past August when I loaded iOS 9. How do I get my computer to recognize non-uploaded photos from my phone and load them?

I had this problem as well. To fix the problem I completely signed out of iCloud on both my iPhone (iOS 9.2: settings/iCloud then scroll to the very bottom and select "Sign Out") and my Mac (version 10.11.1: system preferences/iCloud then choose "Sign Out" in the bottom left corner). As soon as I signed back in on both devices the problem was fixed. Hope this helps.

I usually find that if I perform a manual backup to iCloud on my phone (as long as your photos are set to iCloud backup), the most recent photos will sync to the computer. I have iCloud set to automatically backup my phone every day, but have to do an additional manual backup if I want immediate access to photos I've taken since the day before.

This is the problem I've been having for a while now. My photos sync fine but most videos won't. As it stands none of my videos go into iCloud and then into Photos (are they supposed to?), and when I try to import them manually they are often not even recognized. So currently my phone has three videos, one sent to me and two that I took myself, and plugged into Photos on the import screen it reads "No Photos."

Is there a fix for this particular problem?

I saw on another post (Re: iphoto won’t import mov video) that forcing the computer to "force the recreation of "com.apple.xpchelper.cache" using a sudo command could do the trick:

sudo /usr/libexec/xpchelper --rebuild-cache

But this didn't work for me.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Changes to photos in the Photos app on my iMac are instantly reflected in my iPhone Photos app, but none of the photos I've taken on my iPhone for the past five days appear in my Photos app on my iMac, which is par for the course. Both iCloud Photo Sharing and My Photo Stream are enable on both my iPhone and iMac, although I would prefer not to store my photos in the cloud, and so I do not have iCloud Photo Library enabled on either device. I've seen others indicate that all check boxes (including iCloud Photo Library) should be checked, but I don't think it's necessary to have iCloud Photo Library enabled in order to sync photos among your devices. The My Photo Stream description is "Import your recent photos from devices without iCloud Photo Library, and send new photos to the My Photo Stream album on those devices."

I have found a temporary workaround.

With my iPhone plugged into the computer, I selected the photos that weren't showing up in Mac Photos App and "shared" them (to Telegram). As soon as my iPhone started prepping the files to share, they started popping up on my computer, ready to import.

It isn't the most convenient solution to our problems but it's a start!
