Will sand damage an Apple Watch?

We've seen plenty of scratch & damage tests on the screen. It seems to hold up in water just fine. But what about sand? More particularly: what about getting sand in those tiny holes on the side? Is this something I should be worried about? Should I take any precautions when going to the beach? - F

That spigen case will only make it worse, the sand will get in between the case and the watch and scratch the heck out of it. You can also clearly see that the dial on the side is still exposed too, leaving room for sand to get in between. Do not take your apple watch to the sand. It will get in the crown and make scratchy sounds. I had a friend who did it, the scratchy sounds must have worn out the weather sealing so now his watch isn't water proof. Sand WILL get in "those tiny holes" and cannot be removed without damaging the speakers and microphones. The apple watch is great for swimming in a pool, but not for surfing or other beach activities. DO NOT use it in sandy conditions. Use your G-Shock at the beach and leave the Apple watch in the car.
