Hi

How are you finding the delete option?

I right click on any photo then from the drop down list i click on delete, this then should put the photo into a folder within the photos app, not directly into thrash. You can view recently deleted photos by clicking on the that 'File" menu in the tool bar in Photos. To move the photos into the Trash bin click on the button top right in the recently deleted window.

Hello,

Well, I'm actually not finding any delete option. I'm on a MacBook Pro and don't have a mouse so I don't have a right-click option. Also, none of the drop-down menus appear to have a delete option. What I used to do in iPhoto was just select the photos I wanted to delete, then hit the delete button. That deposited them into a Trash file, which I could empty into the hard drive trash, or take files back out. I'm not seeing any way at all to delete photos in the new Photos software.

Thanks

I just spent all day doing what I thought would work - but NOOOOooo, now there is a "recently deleted file" IN CASE I change my mind.... I USED to LOVE MAC, but not anymore! I can't do ANYTHING without having to do SEVERAL other steps, buy new programs, and download more stuff!

Just go buy one of the apps designed to get rid of the dupes - - trust me, they've made it so you literally CAN'T do what you need to do on your own anymore.

Think it's time I UPGRADE to a more USER RESPECTFUL computer.

As already mentioned previously:

Deleting Photos from a Photos 1.5 Library

1 - regardless of where you are in the library, i.e. Moments, Collections, albums, smart albums or projects, select the photo(s) you want to delete and use the key combination of Command+Delete to move the photos to the Recently Deleted smart album.

2 - click on the Recently Deleted smart albums in the sidebar.

NOTE 1: If you're using Photos 1.2 or earlier use the File ➙ Show Recently Deleted menu option.

3 - in the Recently Deleted album you can opt to let the photo automatically delete after the 30 day waiting period is up, delete them immediately or restore them to the library.

NOTE 2: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with the Delete key only deletes the photo from that item. There is no key combination that will delete a photo from a project and move it directly to the Recently Deleted smart album.

NOTE 3: Deleting a photo from a Moment or Collection (the Photos window) or the All Photos window deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.
