Office upgrade to 14.5.0 as of May 12, 2015

Installed 14.5.1 and that fixed Outlook. However now the same thing happens with PowerPoint.

(Yes I know Keynote is better... shame on me. But I gotta work in an office that uses PPT.)

Anyone having similar issues? Did they fix Outlook and break PowerPoint?

I just installed the 14.5.1 update by downloading from the site. I have no issues with PowerPoint or Outlook.

Have you tried deleting all entries com.microsoft.Powerpoint.* in ~/Library/Preferences, restarting and trying again?

I did that before patch 14.5.1 and it solved the problem on Powerpoint. As for Outlook it was just a temporary fix that went broken after closing Outlook, but on Powerpoint it was permanent.

I also installed the patch - everything working fine. That upgrade, however, is not posted on the Office Upgrade site yet

It is posted on the MS Site. Everything is working for me including PPT Here is the URL Phew. I got sick of clearing my preferences every other day or so just to read my email

I think it's pretty funny that the auto updater still wants to install 14.5.0 as of Fri morning at 0825 PDT.

Thanks for your suggestion. Using Time Machine was really the only thing that helped to get Outlook back to work.
Is there a way to know when Microsoft solves this issue?

Microsoft has solved this issue with a newer 14.5.1 update. You can directly download and install the 14.5.1 update manually if you want from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=47307

I upgraded and had the same problem ... the solution above works very well ... many thanks for sharing this.

For those with multiple languages on your mac, the 14.5.1 update is language dependent. Make sure to pick the update that matches the language of your Office. Otherwise, the installer won’t recognize the Office installation on your drive. Thanks all for sharing.

As of today 05/26/15 the Microsoft AutoUpdate is ( finally ) showing "Office 2011 14.5.1 Update"

Confirming that new update 14.5.1 worked! Outlook opened and no mail was lost. Pheeeew!

There is a new M/Office update which fixed it for me.

Hope it helps you too. Open Outlook or office, even if cant see window, use top menu, HELP/Check for latest update.

This morning, Microsoft Update 14.5.1 Service Pack 3 is offered in the normal way to you

So go to menu help, and check for updates.

MS Outlook works as it should be

Import photos in Word works also fine.

This update can be installed and give no problems after installation
