iPhone and Apple Watch BOTH Ring During Incoming Call

When I first started using my Apple Watch paired with my iPhone 6 Plus, all phone calls would forward to my Apple Watch (haptic and ring) when my iPhone was locked. Starting today, when a phone call comes through, it rings on BOTH my iPhone and my Watch. Does anyone know how to stop the ringing on my iPhone when paired with the Watch and having it only come through on the Watch when the iPhone is locked? I'm mirroring my iPhone calls in the Watch App. Thanks.

I just tried it again (I had done so earlier this morning), and it did the same thing. My phone is on Vibrate and when my wife called me, my Watch did its thing (rang and Haptic'ed) and the iPhone vibrated (both expecting me to answer). So I would say that mine is doing the same thing that yours is now.

This isn't altogether surprising to me (I don't all the ways it is supposed to work), but when I am working on my laptop (MacBook Pro) and have my iPad sitting near me, and have my iPhone with me (this is before I got my Watch), all three of them would react to incoming calls. (I should probably know how to make them limit the reactions, but I don't.)

Did you get this resolved? I am now experiencing the same problem after the duo worked correctly initially. Surely the watch should be the main point of contact when it is on your wrist and the phone is asleep? The manual and website both confirm that only the watch should ring when the phone is asleep. However, Apple support today thought otherwise - but seemed unsure!

I can't find any reference in the manual that says that only the watch will ring if the phone is asleep. My experience is that they both ring regardless of the state of the phone. Phone calls are treated differently than other notifications.

As Meg said that is incorrect. All support articles as well as user guide state both will ring. That is by design and the way most of us would want. But it's very simple if you don't want the phone to ring, just place it on vibrate. Since all other alerts or notifications will only sound off on the watch ( or are supposed to anyway) doing this won't cause you any issues.

HI Guys I hope this helps . So I have black tattoos on my wrist and it wasn't working so I turned off detect wrist on my settings on the iPhone and it started working with no problems . I see that you are having issues with the watch ringing and phone ! turn off wifi on your phone then on the left side of your iPhone put it on silent , then go to setting on your iPhone > sounds >make sure vibrate on ring and vibrate on silent are off. . Let me know if this works for you : instagra: *********

That is the way it is supposed to work - phone calls (as opposed to messages and notifications) are supposed to go to both your iPhone and Watch, even if the iPhone is locked. This was confirmed by an Apple tech support person when I called early on about notifications not coming throuh from certain apps and I though I had some wrong settings.
