No text tone sounds from Iphone when paired with Apple Watch

Since I paired my Apple Watch with my Iphone, I get taptic and sound on my watch, but I don't get any text tones from my Iphone anymore. I have assigned text tones to my GF, brother, etc. I used to be able to hear their specific text tone on my phone and know it was them texting without having to look at the phone. Now the Iphone doesn't make a text tone sound at all, however the watch will still buzz and make a sound when a text comes through. Anyone know how I can get both text tones back on my Iphone while still keeping taptic and sound on my watch? Thanks.

I just got an iWatch over the weekend for my birthday. I'm very unhappy with this issue. The sound is not loud enough and the vibrate is not strong enough. My children texted me and I missed that. Looks like i'm going to return the watch this weekend. Both the phone and watch should sound off.

I recently missed a very important notification on my phone. I could not hear the tone on the phone, and the tone on the watch is too quite, so is very important for me to have the capability of having a specific ring tones, like I have on my phone. So I placed the watch on airplane mode and the phone received all notifications, turn off airplane mode and the watch will get all notification again. Thats the best solution that I found, at least temporarily. This will not really unpair the phone with watch, just turns off the notifications on the watch, so all notifications will go directly to your phone.

No, it isn't. The OP just asked the question as to why it did what it did. If you don't like what it does, then use the feedback link posted multiple times. There have also been workarounds posted here and elsewhere as to how to get notifications on the phone rather than the watch.

Guess what? I like it the way it is as well, and I'm here now, and responded to this thread earlier as well.

Apple may be under no obligation if they don't listen or heed their customers, they will then be out of business. This problem is a problem for me as it is for others as shown by this thread. Why there is no choice given to the consumer is, to me, a mistake. Options to mirror iphone vs custom in the watch app demonstrates it is possible. To not have an option of an audible alert from the iphone connected to the apple watch is a mistake. As folks who are active and work, the very high pitch alert given by the watch or the haptic feedback is often not noticed where an audible alert from the iphone isn't missed. For folks who want it different, silence the phone or at a minimum give us the option of a customized setting.

I Got my watch yesterday and am so mad and disappointed! So mad in fact, I'm going to see if I can return it. But what I did as a temporary fix is put the watch on do not disturb. Now the texts go to my phone and I can tell who is texting by what tone goes off. Also need to mention should you decide to do this, open the Apple Watch app on your phone and make sure to turn off mirror iPhone on the do not disturb function or your phone will be on do not disturb as well!!!

I am missing so many of my text messages because the watch noise and vibrate are never heard by me.

I would like to be able to hear a text tone from both the watch and the phone at the same time as my phone is almost always nearby. Why can't you make this a setting option for users.

Very disappointed in this missing feature.

Disable Wrist Detection in the Watch app on your phone. You won't be able to use Apple Pay on the Watch and you will need to unlock it to do much more than check the time. However, you will here the tones on both devices. I think this has been mentioned more than once in this thread. Did you read the thread before you posted?

Because neither I nor anyone else in this thread works for Apple. You can submit your feedback to Apple here:

Very disappointed in this missing feature.

It's quite intentional on Apple's part. And, the major reason I bought the Watch.

Thanks for the reply.

I Did read the full post but I never saw it clearly explained like you did. Thank you.

I have posted feedback just so Apple is aware that another customer is not satisfied about this feature which I would think is not that hard to provide options. I will try your suggestion of Disable Wrist Detection in the Watch app.

Thanks again for the reply.
