How do I reduce the size of a photo in Photos

How do I reduce the size of a photo in Photos so it will upload to Facebook? I keep getting the message that the file is too big. I tried emailing it to myself as a smaller photo, but then when it exports to Photos, it's the same size as the original.

macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

You can reduce the size of a photo by exporting from Photos.

  • Select the photo and use "File > Export > Export .... photos".
  • In the Export panel click the disclosure triangle ^ to the right of "Photo Kind: JPEG"
  • Select a lower JPEG Quality and a lower Size.

User uploaded file

Then upload the exported file using the Facebook web interface.
