Boot Camp

Hi I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, with Memory 4 GB, OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3, have a boot camp partition with Window 7.

I decide to increase the window partition, I know that I have to delete the old partition and create a new one with the new size, to restore windows with only boot camp image and a repair disk from window, how about formatting the new partition , is it safe to use Disk utility to slide MAC partition to a new size, then use third party app to increase boot camp size, please help what is the best and secure method to apply, without side effect or losing data, on both Mac and Windows.

1. Create a new Windows backup using Windows Backup/Restore to an external disk formatted as NTFS.

2. Copy your files to a second backup disk for safety. Back up OSX for safety.

3. Remove current Windows installation using BC Assistant only.

4. Use BCA to install Windows on a larger partition.

5. Restore your files. If you restore the System Image, the Windows disk partition will be larger than the size you see in Windows Disk Management.

Yes, you will need access to the installer media.

For example, if your current Windows installation is 40GB, and you create a Windows System Image, this will contain information that the partition size is 40GB. If you remove this partition using BCA, and create a new Windows installation as 60GB, and restore the old 40GB image, Windows will show the partition to be 60GB but your C: will still be 40GB. You will need to resize the 40GB to use the entire 60GB using Windows Disk Management.

Good day Loner T

Thank you for your help,

I managed to restore my computer to exactly what used to be on the boot camp partition, as it was before, using system image and a repair disk,

Now what I see from the window explorer is NTFS, but with the same old capacity, and the same info on the disk management, even though I increased it's size.

But from the MAC side I see the boot camp with the new size but still Fat 32, and to my surprise it is completely empty with no items, I even tried to save a document in it, and was saved with no problem, which is impossible with NTFS.

What do you think went wrong? I can repeat the procedure again.

Your password is not echoed back to you. Do you have administrative rights to the Mac?

This is the output from my Mac. I was expecting similar output...

yes I have administrative rights, but I didn't use it then, I used a standard account which work for the first two commands, now I am using the administrator account and here is the other two commands results:
