After the Apple Watch 1.0.1 Update, Heart Rate stopped working...

After I updated my Watch to 1.0.1, the heart rate monitor no longer monitors my heart rate in the background. It only monitors my heart rate when I ask it to take a reading.

This is really, really annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? It was working perfectly before the update.

Hey folks.... I wrote a letter (a few lines below) to Tim Cook, a week later I got a response from the executive group responsible for responding to letters. The interesting thing was that the lady said she never heard of this issue. She had an Apple Watch but did not use the health functions. I suggest you write to Tim Cook, etc. instead of relying on Apple Feedback and rumors about WatchOS2 fixing this. With the HRM not working, the watch can't possibly figure out what your calories, etc. are doing. The HRM is part of a recipe, it's like making spaghetti and meatballs without water. This is a HUGE problem for me:

Before 1.01 trashed the HRM:

  • What we loved about the health info waswe didn’t have to be proactive, I didn’t need to do anything or start an app, the watch always kept track of my walking, heart rate, calories, etc.
  • The health benefits exceeded our expectations. We wore them when we woke until bedtime. We demonstrated the health benefits to anyone who would listen.
  • My wife has an intermittent racing heart condition and the watch was great at making a record for the doctor, until 1.0.1.

After 1.01 trashed the HRM:

Our heart rate is taken once every 2 to 10 hours, so there is no useful health data anymore, calories, etc.

Come on Apple. You messed up the whole fitness thing for us with update 1.01 and now we have to wait several months for a fix...

I too have no measurements for several hours as well,

my bpm doubles and is cut in half every now and then (while doing workouts...)

I bought the Watch for health tracking purposes and now I can't use it at all.

On apple website I found this : "In addition, Apple Watch attempts to measure your heart rate every 10 minutes, but won't record it when you're in motion or your arm is moving."

Since the new update, heart rate reading frequencies have changed.

For me, the watch sync my heart rate every ten minutes when everything's ok.

When your arm is moving, I imagine it's difficult to see your blood flow through your skin. In addition, the watch is also moving a bit on your wrist if you move, it can also influence the reading.

Anyway, I think technology is a bit further then this, they should still work on the heart rate glance of course and I'm sure they actually do.

Glance works, yes.

This is actually why I have to manually activate the glance 10 times a day to get any measurements at all (besides work-out records). And I still have the problem that my heart rate is frequently cut in half and displays 60BPM instead of 120BPM while doing workouts)

I just want the BPM readings from v.1.0 back. The 10minute interval was fine for me and far better than this version.
