Force iPhone 6 to use 3G Only

Sorry for asking same question again on community.

There are so many topics with the same title then why Apple is not listening???????

WHY I CANNOT SET MY IPHONE TO USE ONLY 3G connection? I dont want 2G Edge connection. In India, 2G=No connection. Apple seriously needs to understand this. I have to change my phone to S6 just because of this silly problem. For a workaround, I just switch on airplane mode than turn off, congrates now your phone has 3G for 10 seconds!!!! Shame on your OS Apple!!!!!!

I am sorry to break it to you, but these are really bad replies. The same problem persists even in countries like India (where I am sitting putting this reply) where Apple sells unlocked phones (that aren't tied to any carrier). The problem is simple - you can't force the phone to use a particular network mode.

However, once you start using a particular carrier, that carrier's settings are loaded onto your phone. Those settings ("carrier bundle") determine things such as which networks you can access. If the carrier your using doesn't give you the features or service you want, try a different one.

you are changing topic here.. If there was better carrier obviously we would change it. we don't have much choice specially in developing country like Nepal. And can't force my phone to stay in 3G while i could use 3G without any problem In my old samsung. i can use internet for few seconds without any problem and it suddenly goes to 2G it's like using internet explorer on 60 Kbps speed.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem while vacationing in Mexico from the USA. The local Mexican carrier offers a 3G signal on one tower, and an Edge signal on another, which is a perfectly reasonable offering. iOS 9 decides to take the stronger Edge signal even though I may want the weaker but still very much faster data rate. It has nothing to do with the carrier. The iOS 9 choice is automatic and not user selectable - even though it could be.

Users in other countries are simply asking if there's an app or some other way to make it user selectable, or even set it to NEVER connect to anything less than 3G. It would sure help me during my vacation. Tethering Edge is no fun at all! ;-)

Being able to turn off a weak LTE signal is nice in the USA and Europe, but I would think that being able to ignore an Edge signal would help a lot more people worldwide.

Meg is egoistic guy who actually do not want to accept that the mistake is from Apple's side and not from carrier side.

Same problem I was having in motorola, the device always get connect to more stable network.

Say for instant, networks usually represent themselce as "out of 5 points", that means they are available as 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5 and 5/5.

Now, if 3G network that is abailable in my area is 3/5 and the 2G network available in my area is 5/5, apple/motorola phones will be selecting the better one that is 2G network.

On the same time and place with the same carrier sim, my MI phone which has option to select only 3G/WCDMA mode will keep connected to 3G network and the speed will always be better in MI phone only as its connected to better network.

Now this shows that it completely depends on phone that which network to stick to and keep connected even after getting lower signals but hey, lower network newer affect the internet speed.

Byt if device gets connect to 2G/GSM, internet speed is very very very slow.

Now this is the problem in our India.. I hope Apple guys read this and fix the issue as it is very possible to fix this just by giving out a simple update to their current versions.
