iMac doesn't shut down and remains frozen

I have an iMac 27-inch, late 2013. 3.4 GHz intel core i5. Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.

There are times when I shut down the iMac and it just freezes. The dock and wallpaper remains but everything else on screen disappears. I can still click on things in the dock but there is no menu bar on the top of the screen. I can't force quit anything because there is nothing to force quit. At first I thought it only occurred when I use Garageband, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It's a hit or miss.

Any ideas? Thank you!

Please post an EtreCheck report of the computer and we can then look for obvious issues causing your problem.

THank you. Question: when do I run the app? After I reboot or when the imac freezes during shut down?
