to use an external monitor. There is not USB c to thunderbolt so out of luck there.
The Apple LED Cinema Display Display uses a Mini-DisplayPort and a USB connection. No current USB-C adapter offers both of those connections simultaneously.
A Mini-DisplayPort connector will fit into a Thunderbolt port and Thunderbolt will will support DisplayPort protocol, but there are no USB-C to Thunderbolt adapters. There are some 3rd party USB-C to Mini-DisplayPort adapters out there, but an additional USB connection would be needed to get sound out of the LED Display's speakers, and to use its rear USB ports.
Bottom-line: it's not a match made in heaven.
